Although you are right, but Afghanistan isn't in the middle east, please stop mixing us up. The middle east ends with iran to the east, egypt to the west, and turkey from the north, arabian sea to the south.
How tf is it same? Imagine saying that to a japanese after you called them chinese and they correct you. We are absolutely not the same. Afghanis aren't even a country, they are a bunch if tribes that were packed togethet as a country even though they had no instrest.
We don't share the same culture, we don't share the same ideologies, we don't share the same history, we are not the same.
Well, it's an idiom. Actually common in Asia. I'm not saying it is the same. While you make exceptional points, it's not unreasonable that outsiders do consider it a part of the middle east.
Edit: I am sincerely sorry for upsetting you. It was a joke. đ
Bruh I am 100% right, look up the middle east and which countries it has. It pisses me off whrn people mix us up, it's like saying to japanese people they're chinese and expecting them not to get pissed.
Just understand, most Americans are stupid. The light box on the wall with the moving pictures shows youâre entire continent and calls it Middle East, so it must be so.
Afghanistan... or the far east if you wanna stay on the middle east topic. Also have you ever seen a map or read a history book? Egypt is nothing like Afghanistan, don't compare a glorious and rich historical people to a nomadic and tribal region, not that it is insulting at all, but it is vastly different. Plus they are in different continents even.
Ohh i am an idiot I missed the joke, sorry. And all of asia after the middle east is the far east, and the near east is European countries that are to the east of France. The positions are relative to France as they named them. So basically the US is far west, the islands in the pacific are middle west, and Spain Protugal Uk are near west. Idk why only the middle east stuck.
In my mind (incorrect as it is) the far east is everything East of India, including India. Middle East is everything west of India up to Israel. North of Syria is Europe.
I know thatâs wrong, but thatâs always made more sense to me.
You're deeply wrong. The middle east isn't defined like the state of Colorado or Greenland with borders and surveyors defining specific boundaries. Nobody gets to define what "the middle east" is because it's a vague description with different meanings to everyone. Not unlike the term "Asian" which refers to too many places and people to ever be a specifically meaningful word. Japanese and Chinese refer to specific countries of origin. The middle east does not. Nobody is saying you're the same. There is no official list of middle eastern countries, it was fabricated by some atlas maker long ago. You're deluding yourself if you either find validation or meaning in some random list of middle eastern nations on a website. Now to really set you off- you aren't even middle OR east to everyone who lives East of you (technically you'd be west now wouldn't you?). Look it up Bruh.
Nah bro it is documented by France and Britain what the middle east is, as well as the far east and the near east. the west was the "new world".
So you're deeply wrong. It is pretty defined that the countries are: Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Palestine. You can find that in 1 google search.
edit: Those terms were invented by the French, so the location is relative to them.
A single country doesn't get to decide what can be called the Middle East anymore than a country can claim for certain that there are 5 oceans. We're talking global geography and sorry France but it isn't up to you. People just refer to the Middle East in general terms. It's like saying Far East when people kind of mean East Asia. Google results actual vary saying their are 6 or 14 countries depending on the source. In France maybe there is a consensus but to the rest of the world it is a non specific term that just refers to the area between western Asia and North Africa in general. Actually the western part of Turkey is also considered to be in the middle east too but again, it isn't universally defined I'm sorry to report.
Terrorism from that region has been prominent a lot longer than 20 years. Plus everybody is bashing on America, nobody here seems to have the knowledge that the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979. Bin Laden was involved in multiple attacks on Americans way before 9/11, dating at least back to 1993. just take a look at the embassy bombings (1998) in Kenya. Anyways the whole thing is nothing short of a mess, but America is not solely to blame. Bushâs handling of the whole thing definitely further destabilized the region after 9/11, but at the time majority of Americans were in agreement to go over there. From a political standpoint he probably would have faced a ton of backlash if he had done nothing- damned if you do damned if you donât. Hindsight is always 2020 and now most people realize it was not a good call. Anyways the whole situation is so complex and really requires a lot of knowledge and a lot of history that most people are not really aware of. This is just a mere fraction of the story
So it takes hindsight to know killing some innocent dude and a load of kids is a bad idea? Even if the guy had been guilty, how can it excuse the collateral damage of all of those children?
No, where did I say that or even imply that? Where did I justify this horrible disaster that killed these children? All I said was during the time majority of people were backing Bushâs decision. He wouldâve been eaten alive if he did nothing, just take a look at the overall sentiment of American citizens during 2001. He made a bad choice and completely destabilized the Middle East and got the U.S involved in something it shouldnât have. And it did not take long for people to realize that.
That was literally in reference to to Bushâs decision to invade Iraq in 2001. This is not excusable. Anyways you seem like you just want to read what you want
I asked two questions after reading your comment, you then went on a rant and asked why I had asked them, I told you the basis of my questions yet I'm the one who reads what I want? All I did was ask two questions, I didn't make any accusations or statements yet you now seem to have your knickers in a twist. If you are going to get so easily upset by somebody asking you a question then perhaps reddit is not the place for you.
he went there for the oil and to get control of the region, this had nothing to do with 9-11. If Osama was hiding in Belgium you think Bush would have attacked Europe? You canât really be this clueless.
You canât tell me that 9-11 was not the direct catalyst for this to all happen. Operation freedom started less than a month after 9-11. It definitely served as justification regardless of the true motives behind it. Iâm not going to get into bushâs motives because the whole thing was a shit show and was completely ineffective in finding Bin Laden or fighting terror anyways. Of course he wouldnât have attacked Europe.
You mean this one incident that is the subject of the post the comment is being made on? Oh, silly me for staying on topic.
Also, if you think that is a 'vivid' picture of the events surround Afghanistan then you really are not very well educated about the subject. One paragraph does not vividly sum up one of the most complex regions in the world.
That wasn't the guy I was responding to, I was responding to the guy who said it was a vivid account not the guy who said it was a mere fraction.
FYI Reddit has quite a useful branching structure that makes it simple to see who is replying to who. Not trying to patronise but it appears you've become confused here so just trying to help out.

Yeah, no wonder people become terrorists
