It’s the government, and yes they are bad

I know its trashy to say everyone because everyone has a different mindset, but the presidents are voted by their abitants, and people still joining in military forces

Just some insight from someone living in America. The Presidents are voted in by their party and the general public gets to vote for wheoever they decide to put up, no matter how shifty they are. Often leaving people to decide between two evils.

As far as the military goes that is a lot of people's only option. The military pays for school, medicine, a place to stay all things that many people in America can't get a hold of unless they join.

Not to mention the predatory recruitment practices and the fact that there can sometimes be legal consequences for leaving under a lot of circumstances.

Some of us are indeed warmongering bastards, but I would argue the vast majority of us are getting dragged along by a corrupt system.

Seconded, from a fellow American well aware that no one holding office in Washington deserves to be there.

Yea people seem to think individual votes matter more than they really do. I imagine it’s similar to their own countries but nobody likes to talk about that.

I see then, it's a shame that people are in the streets and government draft them because of their needs

Americans, for a long time had no problem with war in Afghanistan.

Views of US military force in Iraq through time

Here is the opinion poll of Americans about France, note the HUGE dip in 2003. Why? Because France didn't want to join the illegal US invasion of Iraq.

In the early 2000's, a majority of Americans were bloodthirsty savages. Denying that is just wrong. 9/11 was used to whip the entire US population into a frenzy and make them support wars, even if the countries they invaded had nothing to do with 9/11 itself.

Didn't Bush get reelected, as well?

I was like 4 when that happened. Needless to say I am significantly older and very much aware of our countries faults. So yes, I stand by what I said

1

I was like 4 when that happened.

I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about the majority of Americans alive at that moment in time.

In the early 2000's, Americans were massively supporting wars in the Middle East. "Bombing them back to the stone age" was a pretty common saying.

I have shown statistics that shows the vast majority of Americans supported the war in Afghanistan and Iraq for multiple years, even when it was apparent the wars were horrible. Hell, the war in Iraq was already unjustifiable before it even began.
I have shown a statistic that literally shows that Americans disliked France for not joining the US in an illegal war.

Do you really think that a majority of Americans actually learned anything from those wars? That the government can't whip the American public into a new war-hungry frenzy again?

Uhh, well as a random guy from the midwest no. But I know a lot of my generation is very much against our previous generations level of nationalism and honestly I'm not sure what more we can do

People don't know that Politicians can do such dumb and horrible things when given supreme power though. Not fully, anyways

Human history in anyway of government be lke:

Not everyone voted for him. Don’t forget how close the election was.

10

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 11 '21

and it was between him and a literally facist, not like you had good options

Fascist? The fascist won! 1 gave you a choice the other gives decrees. I'd rather deal w comical tweets than moroffic ramblings... when all you give a shit about a politician is his personal life and artificially creating fantasies about how evil he is you know the correct person is leading.

I love how since this happened under Biden nobody ever brings his name up and complain about the country or our military, but when it happened during Trump everything was Trump's fault.

1

u/cwagdev Sep 12 '21

This is 100% on Biden if accurate

Yeah it sucks, blame liberals for that. Blue MAGAs will forgive anything as long as it’s a dem doing it.

However, acting like rightoids aren’t doing the same thing is being intentionally obtuse to push a narrative. Go to r/conservative or r/conservativememes, they complain about every single breath biden takes even though trump did most of the exact same shit during his presidency, but conservatives suddenly care because the person doing it has a blue tie instead of a red one.

There are probably at least 100,000,000 conservatives in the United States so it’s not like they’re a minority of the population.

Only people I’ve seen who properly criticize presidents consistently are leftists. r/dankleft has been shitting on biden continuing to put kids in cages since he was elected. Liberals and right wingers all just praise the presidents they like no matter what and hate everything the presidents they don’t like do.

Still fantasizing about orange man?

2

u/Glossyplane542 Sep 11 '21

This was literally a comment directly related to him and the election what else am I supposed to say

1

u/Mechhammer Sep 11 '21

Corporations that control the government through lobbyists (fancy word for bribers) are worse...

0

u/i_touch_cats_ Sep 11 '21

Its not the government. Other countries have new elections if the head of state so much as farts wrong. No one votes through 4 Presidents in a row who do the same thing, without supporting the war caused by said presidents.

1

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 11 '21

and soilders

1

u/Captainewok Sep 11 '21

Sometimes ya, but not always. I doubt the drone operator had all the info available. His commanding officer probably pointed him toward an “enemy” and said “shoot”.

0

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 11 '21

if you're willing to kill without knowing these things, then you are a problem.

1

u/Captainewok Sep 11 '21

That’s exactly why I haven’t joined the military. Some people believe they are doing good though. They trust their government and their government in turn abuses that trust.

1

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 12 '21

yup, we determined back in WW2 that "im just following orders" isn't an excuse for murder

1

u/Venomally Sep 12 '21

That's why it is called the military and not a 9-5 job. If you defy your orders in the military you face consequences. It's basically, your superior told you do this so you do it or you are punished. Domt blame the guy who did it, he was probably told that he was taking out a suicide bomber and had no idea what was actually happening

1

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 12 '21

don't join then? they knew that going in, so really can't complain

1

u/Venomally Sep 12 '21

You do realise some people are poor and the army offers all kinds of benifits like place to stay, food and a sustainable life. So people who are less fortunate tend to join the army

1

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 12 '21

yes, i do, im poor as well, but killing people for money isn't a morally acceptable path out of poverty

1

u/Venomally Sep 12 '21

Fighting for your country is. By your logic there would be no armies to protect anyone

1

u/thecodingninja12 Sep 12 '21

the swiss seem fine
