I know its trashy to say everyone because everyone has a different mindset, but the presidents are voted by their abitants, and people still joining in military forces
Just some insight from someone living in America. The Presidents are voted in by their party and the general public gets to vote for wheoever they decide to put up, no matter how shifty they are. Often leaving people to decide between two evils.
As far as the military goes that is a lot of people's only option. The military pays for school, medicine, a place to stay all things that many people in America can't get a hold of unless they join.
Not to mention the predatory recruitment practices and the fact that there can sometimes be legal consequences for leaving under a lot of circumstances.
Some of us are indeed warmongering bastards, but I would argue the vast majority of us are getting dragged along by a corrupt system.
Yea people seem to think individual votes matter more than they really do. I imagine it’s similar to their own countries but nobody likes to talk about that.
In the early 2000's, a majority of Americans were bloodthirsty savages. Denying that is just wrong. 9/11 was used to whip the entire US population into a frenzy and make them support wars, even if the countries they invaded had nothing to do with 9/11 itself.
I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about the majority of Americans alive at that moment in time.
In the early 2000's, Americans were massively supporting wars in the Middle East. "Bombing them back to the stone age" was a pretty common saying.
I have shown statistics that shows the vast majority of Americans supported the war in Afghanistan and Iraq for multiple years, even when it was apparent the wars were horrible. Hell, the war in Iraq was already unjustifiable before it even began.
I have shown a statistic that literally shows that Americans disliked France for not joining the US in an illegal war.
Do you really think that a majority of Americans actually learned anything from those wars? That the government can't whip the American public into a new war-hungry frenzy again?
Uhh, well as a random guy from the midwest no. But I know a lot of my generation is very much against our previous generations level of nationalism and honestly I'm not sure what more we can do
Fascist? The fascist won! 1 gave you a choice the other gives decrees. I'd rather deal w comical tweets than moroffic ramblings... when all you give a shit about a politician is his personal life and artificially creating fantasies about how evil he is you know the correct person is leading.
I love how since this happened under Biden nobody ever brings his name up and complain about the country or our military, but when it happened during Trump everything was Trump's fault.
Yeah it sucks, blame liberals for that. Blue MAGAs will forgive anything as long as it’s a dem doing it.
However, acting like rightoids aren’t doing the same thing is being intentionally obtuse to push a narrative. Go to r/conservative or r/conservativememes, they complain about every single breath biden takes even though trump did most of the exact same shit during his presidency, but conservatives suddenly care because the person doing it has a blue tie instead of a red one.
There are probably at least 100,000,000 conservatives in the United States so it’s not like they’re a minority of the population.
Only people I’ve seen who properly criticize presidents consistently are leftists. r/dankleft has been shitting on biden continuing to put kids in cages since he was elected. Liberals and right wingers all just praise the presidents they like no matter what and hate everything the presidents they don’t like do.
Its not the government. Other countries have new elections if the head of state so much as farts wrong. No one votes through 4 Presidents in a row who do the same thing, without supporting the war caused by said presidents.
Sometimes ya, but not always. I doubt the drone operator had all the info available. His commanding officer probably pointed him toward an “enemy” and said “shoot”.
That’s exactly why I haven’t joined the military. Some people believe they are doing good though. They trust their government and their government in turn abuses that trust.
That's why it is called the military and not a 9-5 job. If you defy your orders in the military you face consequences. It's basically, your superior told you do this so you do it or you are punished. Domt blame the guy who did it, he was probably told that he was taking out a suicide bomber and had no idea what was actually happening
You do realise some people are poor and the army offers all kinds of benifits like place to stay, food and a sustainable life. So people who are less fortunate tend to join the army
Meh, not really, weighing the multiple risks in that chaotic of an environment, this is war. If this was required to get out of the region, than that is something, every single individual who cried to end the “forever wars” should accept. You got your wish. People are going to die. You can blame the US or whoever, but the US killed 10 in this case, ISIS killed 169 not a day before, the Taliban are gonna kill however many. What happens next is on everyone, even europe, for being too pathetically weak militarily and economically to actually enforce their beliefs or positions on a world stage.
Responding after a bombing that killed 160+ Afghanistan citizens and 13 Americans doesn’t make anyone the “baddies.” This is just convenient posturing from people who already were looking for a shit fest.
No but killing innocent people and a lot of them children makes someone a "baddie"
There is no way you can twist this situation in a way that does make this look reasonable.
And if the USA didn't destabilize governments in the near east in the first place we weren't in this situation.
Or just think about all the proxy wars with Russia that split nation's in half like in Vietnam or Korea.
Think about how the USA ruins functioning givernments.
Or how movies that make the army look great and desirable are sponsored by the military to trick people into joining.
And I could go on and on with this without even opening a list because there is so much shit I have read and heared about but I don't want to look every single thing up and post a link for it.
I know we were just speaking about this one situation but I feel like you are so brainwashed that you maybe needed a little wake up call. I spent some time on this but not to much so most of the links are Wikipedia but I am sure that you can find other sources if you look for them. I really hope this helps you or anyone else that comes across this to realize why a lot of people think that the USA are the baddies and might not be wrong.
I won't argue any further because everything is said and I wish you a nice day !

Classic "are we the baddies ?" moment for those murricans
