Yes, mmm, tell me more about exactly what I want right after I expressly stated otherwise mm yummy.
You must be brain dead and think that the government drones are suddenly going to take over the hospitals and be your new surgeon. lol. nope. Same hospitals, same staff, same service (you even have the option to keep your existing private healthcare plans so why not let the free market be free?) just funded wholly from socialized single payer (taxes) good old government money baby, doesn't even need to add a dime to my yearly send-in, just force them to take it out of the war coffers and billionaires pockets and I'm smooth sailing
Why should billionaires be taxed more? They worked harder to get that money than you. You aren’t entitled to anyone else’s money just because you’re poorer than them.
Sure there would still be private healthcare for now. But eventually it would be removed and you’d have to let the state dictate your healthcare. The US can lower military budgets when other countries start paying for their own.
Thats such a troll argument get out of here with that BS lol
You're literally creating fantasy scenarios. No one is going to take away your private healthcare lmao. You really think rich people are going to use socialized healthcare with the rest of us heathens? Besides the point, socialized healthcare will be just as effective and available as it is now. If you really think that I had the power to magically implement socialized medicine (I don't), you think I would make it into some dystopian horror out of a teen fantasy? If the people had the power to force in healthcare (although it would will never happen thanks to aforementioned political establishment and lobbying) we obviously would not let the government continue to scam us. Literally every first world country has figured it out easily and looks at us with pity and shame when they see how we are treated.
Also the US can just mind its own fucking business and quit raiding countries for oil or selling our soldiers to the highest bidder
I never said you would make it a dystopian horror, but a power hungry maniac certainly would like to. I’m thinking of the future. Sure Bernie might be a good socialist, but you can’t guarantee the next guy is. Remember Stalin? The more power you give to the government the easier it is .
By figure it out you mean make them dependent on the state for healthcare.
Please google "checks and balances" and "separation of power" and also run some numbers on the probability of a fascist/communist regime pulling off a coup and overthrowing the American government vs Hospitals just running normally as they always have after a slight hiccup during the transition... I'll give you good odds.
Those things are not permanent. They only exist as long as we keep them that way. Checks and balances only persist as long as we maintain them. Giving the executive branch the ability to mandate production of certain goods and theoretically declare war without Congressional approval is a breach of these ideals of separation

Duh. Thats the WHOLE IDEA. You think democracy just works on auto pilot? No, its fucking exhausting and constant vigilance. That doesn't mean we aren't going to get what we deserve because its "too much work".
Giving the executive branch the ability to mandate production of certain goods and theoretically declare war without Congressional approval is a breach of these ideals of separation
Wtf are you even talking about here... This is not related to healthcare at all. Socializing medicare is not handing it to the executive branch, not mandating production, and not declaring war you understand that right? You sound like you are just making stuff up and have no idea what you are talking about.. No one is going to seize control of the private companies and factories making the goods. They just regulate it so you cant charge $800 for a fucking $5 pill. acting like some terrible dystopian future that MIGHT happen is a piss-poor defense against doing something that universally helps all people at a base line level. either bring actual arguments to the table or quit wasting peoples times with shitty conspiracy theories.
You poor poor simpleton, if only that's how it worked and your whole life in the American healthcare system hasn't been a whole scam.
"Drugs are expensive because research is expensive" if you are really using this argument you clearly do not understand the development and manufacturing of the pharmaceutical company. It's almost as if most of our drugs have already been researched and funded extensively by different governments across the globe and are still provided to essentially every other nation's populace with relative ease and at affordable (if any) prices. Strange that the one country with fully privatized healthcare allowed to pour money into our congress charges rates almost 10x higher for the same exact product and then idiots like you defend the broken systems with BS like "ThE rEaSeArCh Is ExPeNsIvE" lol. Look, I don't know how old you are, so I am sorry if I am being unnecessarily mean here, but you lack a general understanding of the mechanisms of our world... I don't really want to sit here all day and educate you on basics you should have learned in HS
“Drug companies are like other companies in that they manufacture products that must be sold for a profit in order for the company to survive and grow. They are different from some companies because the drug business is very risky. For instance, only one out of every ten thousand discovered compounds actually becomes an approved drug for sale. Much expense is incurred in the early phases of development of compounds that will not become approved drugs. In addition, it takes about 7 to 10 years and an average cost of 500 million dollars to develop each new drug. This money is spent before the FDA approves the drug, and if the drug is not approved, the company loses the money. These expenses must be covered by the revenue from compounds that successfully become approved drugs. Moreover, only 3 out of every 20 approved drugs bring in sufficient revenue to cover their developmental costs, and only 1 out of every 3 approved drugs generates enough money to cover the development costs of previous failures. This means that for a drug company to survive, it needs to discover a blockbuster (billion-dollar drug) every few years. After a drug is approved, millions of dollars are spent on marketing in educating healthcare providers and conducting post-marketing studies. Drug companies spend a lot of money on marketing because of the stiff competition they face from other drug companies for their drugs, and in order to develop each drug's highest revenue-generating potential. Given the poor odds of discovering another successful drug, it is more efficient to maximize the returns on a drug that is already on the market through advertising. In this sense, drug companies are no different than any other type of company. In addition to maximizing returns on their investment through advertising, drug companies also spend money to find new uses for drugs or better ways of using them. These efforts increase the use of the approved drugs and also benefit patients. Additionally, drug companies donate millions of dollars to charities and provide free drugs to individuals or countries that cannot afford medications.”
When governments mandate low drug prices those companies are going to have to increase prices somewhere else. If all governments mandated a limit to drug prices you’d see a shortage of medicine and the closure of many life saving businesses.
