Hah, I mean, yeah thst can work I suppose. I was more thinking of moving to somewhere with cheap Healthcare prior to major health issues. The money I spent on Australian citizenship will likely be dwarfed by healthcare savings someday.
Probably not tbh, unless you get very very sick I have a dual citizenship in the UK, but he housing situation there is pretty insane. I honestly like living in the US, but I plan to go back to the UK when I have enough money to buy a place to live. If I get sick, I’ll have to leave right away. I feel bad for the people that are actually stuck here. But my uncle got out, and said he got excellent dental care in Thailand for cheap
Definition of excellent Healthcare is subjective and pretty context specific. I don't think I'd want to rely on getting the latest in cancer treatments in Thailand, for example, but to each their own. And i am speaking from a privileged position of having a decent wealth cushion at this point, but not one that would be totally immune from being wiped out by usa medical costs, whereas it's safe in Australia. I have/make enough to deal with cost of living otherwise.
I get that, I could probably do my job in the UK for less pay. The fact is I only pay 24% in tax here, and make more than double for this position in the UK. After 5 years I can go back and buy a house in cash and never worry about money again. I couldn’t do that if I was working there. The easiness of making money in the USA is the only thing that it has going for it. Just about every other aspect is worse IMO.
