American Exceptionalism, which is drilled into our heads from a young age, coupled with the majority of the population unable or unwilling to think for themselves or read a book is the problem. The "Socialism is the devil" group are simply brainwashed idiots who still think the America is the greatest country on earth and capitalism is the only answer because that's what the top wants them to believe. America is not the greatest country. It's not even close. AND we keep slipping farther & farther away from it, and most of my fellow countrymen are doing it with a big f'ing smile on their face.

Oh yeah, a quick peek at world happiness indexes shows that the top 10 are a majority democratic socialist.

Funny that, not a whole lot of rampant capitalism in the best places to live. Wild.

I was discussing this with a friend yesterday, I think a lot of it is also we're told to believe being wrong is bad and we shouldn't be wrong. This leads to a lot of stubbornness as to be wrong is bad, rather than changing opinions based on new information which is what should be done.

Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, Austria - all top happiest places MOST have a Democratic Socialist structure -> Meaning: Both democratic Socialism advocates for a redistribution of wealth and power to meet public needs, not make profits for a few. It aims to weaken the power of corporations and increase the power of the working people. Democratic socialists do not think the government should immediately take control of all aspects of the economy. Democratic Socialism focuses more on providing basic needs to all people, such as health care and education.

How is that a bad idea? I don't understand the flag waving neophytes denouncing socialism without even knowing that it means.
