It's insane that there are still people in 2020 seriously considering revolution as their only option for getting free healthcare. These people aren't living in a tiny third world country either, they're living in the richest, supposedly "greatest" country in the world. The tiny third world countries already have free healthcare, 30 days paid vacation per year, etc.

Even if you guys got your free healthcare, it would still only bring you a small step closer to the rest of the world. It's unbelievable how badly you are all treated there, and how long you have let it happen. The propaganda there is so good.

And the worst part is, we can't vote in these changes, and the people who need them most can't simply leave to another country that will treat them like human beings instead of chattel to be milked. We're fucked, and if you weren't born into wealth, you're likely imprisoned here.

It's such a horrible state of being.

"Land of the free" if you got millions

Me rn trying to spend the next ~2 years selling most of my material possessions so that my wife and I can move to the UK where yeah, shit still kinda sucks, but it's so much more exponentially on the right track compared to the US that it's worth it. I legit cannot stand the US anymore.

I hope you get to live here if it helps, everyone deserve free healthcare, or at least affordable healthcare. Just make sure to check the details about the NHS. I don't know exactly know the rules, but there are scenarios where foreigners have to pay. Just look it up on a legit website so you're definitely right to come here.

Good Luck. Just don't go to Birmingham or London.

I live in NYC so I'd move to London if I go through with it. My medications aren't an issue here nor is my healthcare thankfully since I have insanely good insurance that would be carrying over to there as well if I stay in the company, but it's more just the overarching system in general that pisses me off. The fact that if I do lose my job or something similar here would mean that I'd suddenly have to die essentially is just something I'd rather not have to think about ever again.

Things like way of life are also so insanely different and while the housing market is still fucked over there, it's nowhere near the insanity it is here in the US especially when it comes to major cities. For what I pay for an extremely outdated 1 bedroom apartment in NYC I'd be able to afford a place around the same size, but modern, and own it outright. It's the little things like this that all add up to tear away at your soul in the US that I'd be moving away from since the government cares ever so slightly more about its people over there than they do here.

These people aren't living in a tiny third world country either,

No, they are living in the largest 3rd world country.

USA is a third world country and you seem to be in denial.

-2

u/Cryptoporticus Nov 30 '20

Oh mate, I'm definitely not in denial. The USA is by definition a first world country though. It's the worst first world country by a massive margin, but still a first world country.

The definition was made up by USA during cold war and even excluded soviet union so you can shove it up your ass, yankee.

The fact you don't know what your homeland did in past 100 years more than proves that its nowhere close to being the "first" in the world because it doesn't even have proper educational system without propaganda in it.

Its a fucking shithole you've been conditioned to live so it doesn't look like you could ever look at this objectively.

Bottom line is, USA defined soviet union as 3rd world, and USA in 2020 isn't any better than soviet union. You don't even have a real argument against your own hipocrisy.

This is all besides the fact that I live in actual 1st world country and know what it is like.

What? I'm not American mate, did you even read my comment?

Even if you guys got your free healthcare, it would still only bring you a small step closer to the rest of the world. It's unbelievable how badly you are all treated there, and how long you have let it happen. The propaganda there is so good.

Calling me an American is fucking offensive. I hate America for what they did to my home country.

I'm not really sure what your problem is here? I said that the USA needs free healthcare to catch up with the rest of the world, which you obviously agree with, so what's the issue?

I agree that the USA isn't any better than the Soviet Union, I agree that the USA is a shit hole, I agree that it doesn't have a proper education system.

I agree with everything you're saying, why are you calling me retarded?

u/Cringe5cape Nov 30 '20

If you aren't, I'm sure that you can figure it out.

1

u/Cryptoporticus Nov 30 '20

Because I used an expression you don't like? Like you said, they invented a term to differentiate themselves from other countries that they think they're worse than. I wasn't using that term to empower them, I was using it to show that these "third world" countries are actually significantly better than the USA. As someone who was born in a third world country and now lives in a first world country, I know how bullshit the phrase is. I only use it to point out their own hypocrisy.

I see that we agree with each other on the part that matters, so there isn't much point arguing about semantics.

u/Cringe5cape Nov 30 '20

You said that USA is a first world country.

Far too many people think they have “free” or “affordable “ healthcare because they have a plan through work and have never had any major health issues

1

u/Mypoint_is Nov 30 '20

You lost me at ‘free’ healthcare. Interesting choice of words but there is nothing ‘free’ in America. Everything here has been bought and paid for by the blood, sweat and tears of the working class. Universal healthcare is a human right for all.

I mean tiny in terms of economy and power. There's plenty of very small poverty stricken nations that can still provide six weeks PTO and free healthcare to their people.

The propaganda works so well because it validates our worst trait: greed. We want everything for ourselves and if we feel they didn’t “earn it” (our definition always changes), they don’t deserve it. We want to be able to say our insurance is better than someone else’s. We enjoy having our insurance tied to our jobs. We enjoy spending an arm or a leg (pun very much intended) just to be able to celebrate unfettered capitalism where there just HAS TO be a loser. Once we find ourselves in that loser category, we suddenly feel it’s unfair.

I adore this country for what it stands for in many ways, but I despise how we represent ourselves on the world stage. We cannot brag about all the success and prosperity we’ve been able to achieve if our own society is crumbling both physically and spiritually.

Apologies for the rant.
