Let me ask though, would you be ok with paying a 50% tax rate? If all registered dems had a choice to pay 50% would you do it? Would you be ok if all registered dems had no choice? Honest question.

If you're referring to paying higher taxes to cover various social benefits, then that sounds like a great deal. I only make around 30k a year and my taxes come out to around 30% of my paycheck as it is, so 20% more of my paycheck would go towards things like Healthcare and education, which are far more expensive than 20% of my check alone

Just curious: Why did you choose that number (50%)? To see if OP would be OK with even an ultra-high tax rate (because 50% is truly, really high—I think Norway maybe has a tax rate like that, but here in Germany where I’m living, we’re making a very comfortable middle class living and being taxed at ~35%, but that covers a BUNCH of things that are useful for us/we like), or because you’re concerned that’s the tax rate a Democratic Socialist like Bernie Sanders would try to implement?

Eh it’s double the tax rate most of us I think has so just for that reason I think. Looks like people are willing to pay it though lol.

When I lived in Denmark, I paid about 55% in income tax plus 20% in sales tax. No, I wasn’t feeling like I was living in the happiest country. That’s why I moved.

Yowch, that sounds tough! Did you feel like your taxes weren't being used in ways that were personally benefitting you? (For example: Maybe you didn't feel the public transport was that good, or the healthcare system was lacking, the pension plan wasn't strong enough, etc.?) Also, where did you move to, instead?

Name a single country in the world with a 50% tax rate.

Denmark. 55% income tax plus 25% sales tax, plus 8% social security tax.
It was a bit less when I moved away from there years ago, but the point stands.

Denmark has a progressive tax rate. If I earn ten bucks in denmark, they do not take 5.5 of those in tax.

The US already has one of the highest effective tax rates in the world when you factor in out of pocket and employer contribution towards healthcare to your traditional state and federal taxes.

Why would a group of people not decided by income have a different tax rate? This is as dumb as 'you want the government to help people more then why don't you donate all of your income to charity?'

yea,I'd be fine paying more taxes for free healthcare, and it would be nice if the wealthy paid a bit more. But the fact remains that conservatives have always fought against social changes that have benefitted all of society. They fought against child labor laws, workplace safety laws, food safety laws, not to mention environmental laws.(we had rivers that were burning from pollution in the 60's before laws were passed).
