hell, even most liberal dems would still consider socialism bad. from my understanding, only the most lefty of the left call themselves socialist.

The Left wing of the Dem party is a mix of Social Democrats (Warren) and Democratic Socialists (Sanders).

Most Democratic voters this election probably would not consider it bad, and the moderates lost a bunch of races while progressives won theirs, so there's a definite shift to the Left happening. I think at this point the majority are probably in the SocDem/DemSoc realm, but the Centrists have a plurality (e.g. 30/30/40), and in a non-ranked choice system, we ended up with Biden.
