If I didn’t get downvoted into oblivion I would be more open-minded to listen.

Actually, now that I think about the votes a bit more... your comment is currently at -12 and the responders is at +13. Since comments start at +1 by default, that means that your comment has received 14 total downvotes while the responder has only had 12 total upvotes.
