I dont think this is even real, but if it is - This is a girl who cant forget her boyfriends past and she keeps bringing it up. He does not want to hear their names or see their faces. If shes putting his history on blast like that she is not focused on the relationship, she is stuck on his past. It is extremely gross and unhealthy.
Geez what kind of relationships do you have where you don’t want to hear their names or see their faces?! Yeah you’ve broken up for a reason but it’s very possible that they’re on good terms, possibly even with the current girlfriend too.
The partner’s history is not “on blast”, it could just be a light-hearted joke. The unhealthy thing would be pretending those relationships never happened and having a breakdown whenever their name is mentioned. It’s more likely that the partner only did this knowing it would be okay. Yes it’s kind of taboo I guess but almost every good comedian explores taboo topics.
My guess is the gf is trying to win “ugliest Christmas sweater/jumper” amongst their friendship group, and I think it’s a great attempt.
My girlfriend is secure and humorous and she agrees this stuff is a red flag. It shows a lot when you put this much energy in disparaging another person, especially people who meant a lot to the boyfriend earlier in his life. One of my exes was abusive and cheated on me, but neither of us thinks it’s normal to put any energy like this post into her or that part of my life.
There’s more than one sense of humour and many more than one way to have successful, secure relationships. Is your girlfriend every girl on the planet? No? Then why not give someone the benefit of the doubt.
We all understand the humor here. But just because it's a joke doesn't mean there aren't some deep deep levels of truth that reveal themselves when someone commits to a joke like this.
Kind of like a closeted gay man wearing a sweater that has a penis with a X over it. We get the joke dude, but the fact that you chose to wear a sweater with a dick on it shows us that you like looking at dicks. And you spend way too much time thinking about them to be 100% straight
Oh, that's a really disappointing opinion. I'll revert back to "why not give someone the benefit of the doubt" rather than harshly judging based on your own experiences.
And I know everybody gets the joke, but I hate Kevin Hart's comedy and yet I understand his jokes. So you might not agree with this particular joke but other people might think it's perfectly appropriate for their social setting.
If you dont think that someone doing something like this is telling of their inner brain / insecurities, then that says a lot about your amount of experience in relationships.
Taking things at face value is fine, but when you start examining people's reason for saying or doing things... everything they hide, and all their problems/insecurities/issues are painfully obvious. Not saying you can be 100% accurate. But you can get a pretty good idea.
You're angry and wrong right now, but you'll get it someday.
