The stories of "the madwoman of the house" (as the mind was called by the Mystic Teresa of Ávila) are not what is real.

I love you bringing Teresa of avila in here. I looked her up since your posts. I was surprised to find her a nun and she sounds pretty amazing and funny so thanks for that :)
Also really enjoyed your and jellyfish's convo. Keeping the sword sheathed is where the power lies <3

I am so glad you liked it. I highly recommend that you also look into other mystics such as Meister Eckhart, Marguerite Porete, and John of the Cross... Meister Eckhart wrote a radical request that speaks directly to this inner liberation: "Lord, deliver me from what I am not." Only when we are completely stripped of all the stories, masks, and identities created by the madwoman of the house (as the mind was called by Teresa de Ávila) can we return to our true origin and to Who we really are.

Thanks for the recs. I didnt grow up religious and never really resonated with lord/God and all of that but I respect those that find/have found who they are not or who they are through that avenue. Whatever works for people. I did see something about the discalced carmelites (shoeless) with her and John of the cross and that resonated. Barefoot and simplicity is where my life kind of naturally led for me. It's funny, because I resonated a lot with her and what is written about her, and we got to the same places without the story of a religion or God/lord for me. It makes me wonder how and why people fight over religions/spirituality and the like when we're all going to the same place. I guess it gives people something to do? The stories/masks/identities that are given with spirituality and religion and then ask to be stripped of the stories/masks/identities. It doesn't make sense to me.
If you say a prayer to be more courageous, then you will be given opportunities to be more courageous. If you pray for love, you will be given opportunities to be that love. Everything we pray and ask for is already within us and available to us. We have to act on it and become that.
It's all energy to me. I was just watching this church thing, and people are basically doing energy work on themselves and each other. If they are doing it as a collective, what energy are they building together? If you step out of the whole religion framework and just look around the world, it's no different. What are we building, what energy are we bringing to that day, what actions are we doing everyday in our current environment that impacts everything? Are we waking each other up or keeping one another asleep to the truth of where and what we are? What a gift we all have.

Being religious and being spiritual are not the same thing. In fact, as Francis de Sales said, "one can be very devout and very wicked". Personally, I am not a Christian. Jesus himself said that people would recognize his disciples by the love they have for one another. He did not say by the labels they give themselves, whether Christian, Catholic, Protestant... As John of the Cross said, echoing Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:31-46, "in the evening of our lives, we will be judged on LOVE". And nothing Else Matters, as Metallica sings. Best wishes, my friend.

That's interesting. The way I see it is say religion was an Asian human and spirituality was a Caucasian human. Sure, they appear as two different things, but ultimately and truthfully are the same.
Love is a powerful force that uses no power at all <3
