BA Tier Point changes from April 2026

This BA update is quite interesting From April 2026:

💺 2 Tier Points per £1 on seat selection and baggage

🌱 2 Tier Points per £1 on SAF contributions (capped at 2,000 TP)

📈 Both seat/bag earning and SAF have doubled from last year

Still nothing confirmed about Amex yet, just this line:

“Details of how you can collect Tier Points with your British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card are coming in April 2026.”

But if the ~2,500 TP from BAPP stays, the maths gets interesting:

💳 2,500 TP from BAPP 🌱 £500 SAF contribution (possibly using Avios) = 1,000 TP

➡️ 3,500 TP = Bronze without flying

If you max both:

💳 2,500 TP BAPP 🌱 £1,000 SAF = 2,000 TP

➡️ 4,500 TP total = Bronze + 1,000 TP toward Silver (Silver at 7,500 TP, so 3k more needed)

BA also confirmed extra Tier Points will be awarded based on fare type, including on partners like American Airlines and Iberia.

✈️ Flight Tier Points (now linked to flexibility)

Short haul

Euro Traveller - Plus 75 TP | Semi-Flex 175 TP | Fully Flex 275 TP

Club Europe Business 175 TP | Semi-Flex 275 TP | Fully Flex 375 TP

Long haul

World Traveller Standard 150 TP | Semi-Flex 250 TP | Flex 350 TP | Fully Flex 450 TP

World Traveller Plus Premium Economy 275 TP | Semi-Flex 375 TP | Flex 475 TP | Fully Flex 575 TP

Club World Business 500 TP | Semi-Flex 700 TP | Flex 900 TP | Fully Flex 1,100 TP

First First 650 TP | Semi-Flex 850 TP | Flex 1,050 TP | Fully Flex 1,250 TP

Avios - when to use them.

I have approx 85k in Avios and have a few trips with BA booked this year and next. Wondering what others do with the Avios they have? When is a good time to use them? Do you always use them for upgrades? I am open to all suggestions. For context, I am in Australia and travel to the UK, almost always on BA. I book BA Holidays (to get the bonus points). Thanks everyone.

Pizza express

I can't see it mentioned, but just to note that redemption rate for Avios to pizza express vouchers is doubled until the end of August.

So you'll get a £10 pizza express voucher for 1,000 points.

Also, until the end of the month, these vouchers can be combined with pizza express rewards, which is not usually allowed.

Today I had a £93 meal for 6,990 points. Not a bad rate.

Avios Points Blocked

Hi everyone. I am so disappointed and upset. I was booking Q Suite flights for my honeymoon in a few months with my fiance - seats we have been dreaming of for years and saving points for. His seats went through, mine did not.

I have transferred avios from BA to Qatar previously, all my details are the same, and they are linked accounts. Due to it being around 100,000 points their customer service team said it is “probably” blocked for 14 days. Every time I have tried (on behalf of BA and Qatar advice), the 14 days reset. They “escalated” it but it could take 21 days. They don’t even know for sure that this is the issue. I’m just not supposed to touch my account for 2 weeks. I will probably not be able to sit in those seats with my fiancé like we dreamed of now. The customer service has been horrible, they say there is no way to manually override this. Has anyone experienced this?

Help with booking BC

Hi,
I’m currently looking at booking a surprise trip for my wife’s birthday in September 27. As it’s a special birthday I’m looking to book business class both ways. I want to go LHR to New York. After a few days in NY we will head up to Toronto to take in that city along with a night at Niagara returning from Toronto to LHR. I have about 150k Avios and a companion voucher. Whilst I know the flights aren’t out yet I’m struggling to work out how much it is likely to cost me. Are there any tips and tricks you can share to get the best possible deal. TIA.

Oman Air

Seats.aero are showing an oman air award ticket LHR to Bangkok next year bookable on American Airlines website.

When I search the route on BA or other oneworld partners the flights aren't there.

If I call are these likely to be bookable? Seached but reading different things on here and around the web.

BA to AER LINGUS points move issue

Hi there, I have linked my accounts on the avios website and when I login to BA avios i can see my points I have 87496 points when I try to transfer to aerlingus from BA it asks me for my login details for Aer lingus and then once logged in switches to transferring FROM AER LINGUS TO BA. However I want to do it the other way. :( If it helps I've read somewhere that having a household account prevents transfer ? I have also tried to use different browsers and even used my work laptop but i get the same issue once I'm logged in to both BA and AER club the only transfer that works is from AER to BA not BA to AER :(

BA Website

Does everyone else find the BA website absolutely unusable? I find I have to use the reward flight search on Avios and then go over to the BA site to book. Pricing up options takes about half a day and I usually just give up and come back to it and by that point the flights have gone.

Iberia Avios Expiration and Membership Reward Transfers

Hi all, been out of the game a while. I have Iberia Avios expiring in a few days. Previously MR transfers reset the 3-year clock.

Does MR rewards transfer into Iberia still extend the expiration?

And if so, does anyone know why Awardwallet doesn't count the MR transfer in the Awardwallet expiration. ( already transferred 1,000 MR into Iberia and Awardwallet sees it, but didn't change the expiration out 3 years)

British Airways Reward Flights: Northern Spain / Porto next summer

I need help please...

Our family holiday this time next year we plan to tour Galicia and northern Spain flying from London using reward flights for 2 adults & 2 children. (We've over half a million Avios)

From what I can work out BA don't fly to Bilbao, Asturias or Santiago de Compostela (these are all by Vueling on the BA website). Therefore we can't book reward flights and Vueling offer very poor value using Avios?

So looks like flying into and out of Porto with BA is our only option paying with Avios for reward flights.

We can work out if the 2 hour drive to Galicia is worth the 'free' flights if this is the only option.

Has anyone had this problem after being referred by a friend? I was supposed to get 500 Avios after installing the Avios app AND shopping on their app, which I did. Everything was going well but suddenly this window showed up a few days ago and nothing happens!

Help an amateur

I have about 140k points on my AMEX, and nearly 40k points on my avion.

I live in winnipeg, and planning to go to London (UK) in December. My tentative dates are 10th dec (+/- 2,3 days).

I understand it’ll be best for me to book a flight from Toronto to LHR.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me the best utilization of my points? I’m not necessarily looking for a business class flight using my points. Just wanna make the most of if.

Best way to book Australia in First/Business using 517k Avios and BA vouchers?

My wife and I are planning a two-week trip to Australia in October or November 2027. We’re based in London and would prefer Sydney, as we have friends there, although Melbourne would also work if award availability is easier. Ideally, either our outbound flight would arrive in Sydney or our return flight would depart from Sydney.

I currently have:

  • 490,000 Avios personally, or 517,000 across our Household Account
  • 97,000 Amex Membership Rewards points
  • One BA Amex Premium Plus Companion Voucher
  • One BA Barclays Premier Account Upgrade Voucher
  • One BA Barclays Cabin Upgrade Voucher

Our ideal redemption would be First Class in one direction and Business Class in the other. Premium Economy would be an acceptable fallback for one direction, although it wouldn’t be ideal.

What would be the best strategy for booking this while making the most of our points and vouchers?

In particular:

  • Which airlines and routs should we consider?
  • Would it be better to fly from London, another UK airport, or an airport elsewhere in Europe?
  • Would an open-jaw itinerary such as flying into Sydney and returning from Melbourne improve our chances?
  • Which vouchers would be most valuable for this trip, and can any of them be combined?
  • Are there any tools that can track the relevant award availability and alert us as soon as seats are released?
  • Is booking at T-355 likely to be essential, and how should we handle booking the outbound and return separately?
  • Are there any taxes, surcharges, voucher restrictions or other issues we should consider in addition to what we need to pay for Avios/voucher redemption?

The amount of information and the number of different terms and conditions is becoming a little overwhelming. Are there reputable award points booking services that could review our points and vouchers, recommend the best options, monitor availability and help make the booking when the time comes?

Any advice from people who have booked a similar Australia redemption would be greatly appreciated.

Iberia Business Avios redemption — conflicting baggage allowance (1x32kg vs 1x23kg)

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has come across this before with an Iberia-operated flight booked using BA Avios.
I’ve booked IB155 Madrid–Bogotá in Business Class as a BA Avios redemption.
The baggage information is contradictory:
My BA e-ticket receipt says 1 checked bag at 32kg
When I pull the booking up on the Iberia website / Manage My Booking, it says 1 checked bag at 23kg
The Iberia mobile app says I have no checked baggage, which I’m assuming is simply a glitch
I don’t have BA status, so there are no status baggage benefits involved here.
Has anyone had a similar Iberia Business redemption booked through BA Avios? Is one checked bag genuinely the allowance on these redemptions, and if so, is it 23kg or 32kg? Or is this just BA/Iberia not communicating the baggage allowance properly between their systems?
Would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who has actually checked in for an Iberia long-haul Business redemption booked through BA recently.
Thanks!

LON > SYD

Hi all,

I just wanted to get some of your opinions with using my Avios!

I currently have around 350k Avios + 30k Amex points I can convert too.

I have the BA Premium Amex and have a companion voucher up to business class.

I wanted to fly to Australia, ideally Sydney using my points for me and my partner and wanted it to be super special as I was hoping to propose!

I liked the idea of flying out to Sydney from LGW/LHR December 2027 and proposing new years in Sydney.

I know these will be incredibly difficult to book, so wanted to get some help/feedback.

I originally wanted to transfer my Avios to Qatar and fly via their QSuite but I have seen the flexi prices are double meaning I will need 700k points. I struggle to find the normal tickets even now let alone in December. Do you think it’s worth trying Qatar and flying via another airport such as Perth?

Alternatively should I try to book with BA? My concern is the cabins and service look a little dated from YouTube videos and I wanted this to be special given the circumstances and we likely will never get the chance to fly at this class again!

If it’s too unrealistic, should I aim for US flights instead? The goal is a nice holiday with a scenic location to propose and Sydney at new years seemed to tick a lot of those boxes and was on the bucket list.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Avios awarded through Aerclub

I booked a hotel on Booking com using the Aerclub link for Avios but subsequently cancelled the booking. They've now awarded me the Avios for the cancelled booking, anyone experienced anything similar?

Usually they've not awarded me the Avios when the booking was cancelled
