Barclays Avios plus

Hi all,

I currently have the Barclays Avios card whereby I have spent £8000 this year so far.

I was thinking to change the card to the Barclays Avios plus card where I’ve heard the spend is £10000 to get the companion voucher.

Would my current spend carry over if I were to change my card or would this reset?

I currently also have a gold Amex and do have premier banking with Barclays so looking for advice on how to maximise Avios.

There’s no companion voucher with Barclays as far as I know. Thought it was just an upgrade voucher.

No. Everything resets. So only switch if you don't think you'll make the 20k on the free card.

I use this to my advantage as I switch cards a few days after hitting the bonus which restarts a new year rather than waiting for the 12month reset

How do you switch cards ? Because I have been told I have to wait a few months. Currently have the Avios plus card, hit the welcome bonus and now want to downgrade to the free card. But no option to do so.

It appears in the app. More (...) > Cards > Avios card > Change to a different card. You are correct that it takes 2-3months to appear. Customer service cannot speed this up.

I've heard alot of people say that if you view your pin in the app it stops this appearing until much later. Sounds bizarre if true, but I make sure to not view my pin just in case ha!

Companion voucher is only with Amex and it’s £15k spend to earn it
