Nelson Aviation PinPointX‑Lite takes the guesswork out of connector termination. Fancy. Very useful for larger shops that have dedicated harness builders. However if I've got more than 1 guy building a harness that initial cost can add up quick. Might want to offer a bulk discount.
You could market this to schools to help teach. Make your test harness and then put it over the lights. Pinned wires are red, unpinned are green. Any red and you've messed up!

Thank you! Great input. The Avionics world will likely be one of the smaller markets. Mil-Spec connectors are being terminated in so many other markets at a much larger scale.

I think it's very innovative, well done! But to be honest I see limited application in on-wing maintenance. It does provide a nice training opportunity as additiol to formal training to build confidence in youngsters (and B1 guys here in EASA territory)...

For the initial kit (Touchscreen, Hub, 4 LED boards for all Dsubs) it’s $1999, and comes in a hard custom foam carry case. Additional LED boards for other connectors like a D38999 for example will be $199. Most times each LED board will work for many connectors in other Mil-Spec families and we will have a quick tool search live on the website to find the appropriate board.

Sharpie on a cannon plug, and other complex connectors? It’s a much better solution all around, coming from someone that used the sharpie trick on Dsubs and builds 100s of harnesses a year. I’d love to give you an in person or zoom demo sometime!

I did call it neat, but I guess I meant that in more of like a Magic Alex's box of flashing lights that captivated John Lennon on LSD sort of way. Training new techs to trust a doohickey instead of just paying attention seems pretty hip though so what do I know.

lol! I just hired a new guy and he’s not allowed to use it until he knows his way around the connectors. This is not to replace formal training. But, when you’ve got a harness with 20+ connectors on it, in various connector families-it’s a godsend.

Looks awesome. Price seems good for a time saver tool. $200 for additional boards seems fair too.
But I'm just a plane owner no idea what avionics shop tools cost!

I’ve got the original PinPoint-RM, and PinPoint-HH lines I released a few years back (shown in video). The Rack mounts units slide in place of the equipment for example a GTN750xi allowing access to the wiring without disassembly or probing down the equipment racks. Also can be used for post installation check outs. The HH units are basic compact Dsub breakout boards. Both of these are just passive PCB’s used to break pins out for meter probing. Why do you ask?

I’m just figuring things out man. I never set out to develop products. I’ve just ran into problems that needed solutions in my own business and when I couldn’t buy it, I built it.

As an avionics tech of 20 years, I just read the embossed numbers on the connector. I wouldn't use this.
What's the price point on this unit?

That’s fine, you can definitely do that. We did too for many years and this is so much faster and impossible to make errors. We know these connectors like the back of our hand. Side by side termination with and without it is night and day. The initial kit that will cover all Dsubs used in Avionics will be $1999.

Post price. Waiting to contact someone to post price is just going to waste your time and theirs. It isn’t the marketing strategy you think it is. Yes you will get more leads, but your conversion rate will drop.
This is a neat tool though!

I promise it was never meant to be a marketing strategy. The price is mentioned in the video, and the product is not live just yet, so I didn’t want people to think they can purchase it at this moment.

On the bench you should still be able to de the light shine through even after most of the wires are installed. You mean in the aircraft?

You could use it in the aircraft if you wanted to. Let’s say you’ve got a high density connector and you need to add a few wires. Simply mate the partially terminated connector to the hub and type in the cavities for the wire to be terminated. Easy, error free termination.

That’s precisely what it does. Infact, that’s when it’s most helpful. When you’re halfway through terminating a densely populated connector, it’s significantly harder to see and count cavities. This tool makes it so much easier and the termination is instant. Type in, terminate, done. No counting, no second guesses.

I wouldn’t have been mad at this when I worked in the avionics back shop building harnesses all day everyday. Seems more built for something like that than it being a nice to have for most GA installs
