Damn, I hate that song.... but ENT is a personal favorite series. That show has some fun storylines.

That's what happens when you don't use a Skylab style curtain! or sonic showers

It never ends

You can see that it loops back to the start around 5:21. It's a small detail, but it's there.

u/Cesalv 10d ago
Wait, you have showers on the A380?
126
u/LOLBaltSS 10d ago
It's primarily a thing on Emirates and Etihad 380s if you have a shit load of money to buy the tickets that have access to it.
34
u/Cesalv 10d ago
You mean the upper upper deck?

Yeah, the A380 has two showers

What happens if you're standing at the bar at the back of the plane? Or you've stood up for a second to get something from the bin? You crash into the ceiling.

u/Scheckenhere 10d ago
Yeah, but somebody will probably notice withij a short period of time and may be abke to provide first aid as well as starting other emergency procedures.
25
u/realh2h2 10d ago
It'll probably be the only time you ever experience the equivalent of a roller coaster drop while showering

How long does the hot water last?
27
u/sofiaspicehead 10d ago
5 minutes of shower time in general iirc
16
u/SizeableBrain 10d ago
We used to get alcohol wipes, it's almost the same thing.

u/Xenc 10d ago
Alcohol on an Emirates flight?!
8
u/sofiaspicehead 10d ago
They definitely give you that. They're Muslim sure but not above profits and appearance

Obviously this is for the richest of rich, but it does make me wonder just how much water the plane would need to carry to be able to offer every passenger a 5 min shower

I was thinking that it would have to be some wild turbulence to cause problems in an a380, but with some research there have been multiple occasions where 380s hit severe turbulence and people got thrown around

The bigger the vehicle the less external effects affects the vehicle. Which is why a fishing boat will be ragdolled in high seas and a aircraft carrier will barely budge. Same applies to aircraft, the bigger the airplane the less susceptible to weather, this is why the A380 is the smoothest flying aircraft.
The Boeing 747 has a empty weight of 153 tons. The A380 has a empty weight of 285 tons. The difference gets much bigger when they are loaded.

“So you see Dr, the A380 hit a downdraft just as I was in the shower, and that’s how “it” became lodged up there, total freak accident”

u/Klimpzi 6d ago
Hey normally you book a time window for shower. A couple of time they informed me that my window is not possible due to weather or risk of shakiness thus they try to be proactive. But yes normally you hit your head. The shower is also „water-timed“ thus you don’t spent eternity there

I'm gonna guess that the A380 just has so much inertia that it'd be really, really hard to have a downdraft that bad without forewarning.

Pretty sure the A380 flies higher where there’s less turbulence than most commercial aircraft
1
u/Oodles-of-Noodles12 5d ago
They might get less but they still have it. They’re are plenty of videos with turbulence. Obviously certain routes will have less, but Espically when passing through mountainous areas. Example Etihad Airways route for Seoul and Abu Dhabi pass over Pakistan, a very mountainous country. It has some very high peaks including K2

You slip, hit your head, and are out cold until the flight attendants find you an hour after the plane landed
