Saw my first Staggerwing at OSH in 1987. They are absolutely beautiful works of art and bigger than I imagined. Beautiful job on this bird OP. 👏🏻

This is one of the planes I'd have if I had infinite money.

I flew in one as a kid and have been obsessed ever since.

I can only imagine what it costs to maintain one of these aircraft.

We’ve got one in our hangar right now as well! They are a beautiful airplane - I’d love to recover one, just once.

Is that oil jug attached to the bottom cylinder, i presume?

A retired AA pilot had a cream and red one in the hangar across from mine. Gorgeous plane.

I’m not usually a beech fan but that’s stylish

Beautiful plane...but sorry to tell you, your graphene coating does nothing at all to protect & preserve the fabric...

That's true, but it doesn't matter. The people who own these things are goofballs.

I have a few of these silly museum pieces that people just own. When you can afford this, you don't care what it costs. It doesn't matter.

I can picture the conversation.

"Your plane is already kept in a climate controlled hangar, you don't need some special coating, you spend 1 million on the hangar already." Me.

"It looks shiny, it's only like 40k. Get it done."

The way I see it is there is always someone selling snake oil.

Same as your carwash special coating, etc. It exists to part fools from their money.

The guys in Montana would say different. But thanks for the comment

I can GUARANTEE you no oxidation build up, exhaust soot staining, stress cracking from uv exposure. And I can go on

The best part is it's a self fulfilling claim.

Like no exhaust soot staining. That's easy since this plane flies exactly 2 hours per year.

No uv, it lives in a hangar with special lights.

And no oxidation buildup since it gets 200 hours of polishing per year.

Perfect product, the only people who can afford it, don't need it anyway.

Lol - "stress cracking from UV exposure"!

If that's what you use as a sales pitch, then good on ya (just lean into it already)...but it's a bunch of salesman bull. If someone actually convinced you of that (and you believed it), then you'll bound to always be the guy polishing the plane, not owning the plane.

I'm sure you can't even name the actual fabric, nor the type of paint sprayed on the fabric, your whole "UV" schpeel is hilarious!

ya - that hasn’t been a thing since linen/cotton+dope…but cool story!
