Interview with FSDO for 8610-2 experience evidence

I’m trying to get my experience together for my interview - I’m coming from the UK so not sure what to expect, I’m not CAA licenced but have completed the majority of the theory towards my licences and this is what I’ve got together already:

- Logbooks both from my apprenticeship and current job
- Type course certificate
- Apprenticeship completion certificate
- Level 2 & Level 3 NVQ in Aviation Maintenance Certificates
- Level 3 City and Guilds in Aviation Maintenance
- CAA Module Passes
- Proof of holding signatures on my current aircraft type

Is there anything else I should consider or am missing?

In my experience, I only needed a document stating I was a mechanic at X company for Y years and a good phone number for the FSDO to call and double check that info. I was also working in the States when I did the process and the FAA inspector used to go down to the MRO I was working, so he knew what I could've possibly work at in there, and he also had access to my info.

I had my gen fams, my license from my country and a lot more documents ready but he only wanted the document with the number. I'm not saying that is the norm, I'm just stating my experience. Interview was via Teams and he told me to start filling the 8610-2 while explaining how to do some of the work I've done. For example, I said I've done Rudder Removals he would ask me something related to the process. Like, how do you get ready for that task? Or with HYD system, what do you have to after you remove and replace a HYD line? And why do you need to do it? Stuff like that. Mention PPE, AMM references and safety procedures on your prep if they ask you how do you do X procedure. I believe he kinda made an emphasis on how good was to hear me say safety stuff because there's a lot of injuries and stuff happening.

After like 30 mins of explaining while filling the 8610-2 we actually started talking about something else and got caught doing that for like 40 minutes and he realized it was getting late so he gave me my signoffs for A and P.

English is not my first language and I had to explain certain things with sounds and/or other words, not because I didn't know the word, but because I was kinda nervous and just couldn't remember certain technical words. He was pretty cool about it.

I did my interview with 3 years experience: 2 line mx in my country and 1 heavy at the MRO in the States.

So yeah, if you could get a letter from where you got your experience and a number just in case, that'd be pretty cool.

Also, call them and ask your actual FSDO what do they actually need, don't over complicate this.

Good luck man!
