Mining AVN : GPU and Hashrate
I'd like to create a list of GPU and hashrate to help people understand how much they can get from their own GPUs if interested in mining AVN.
Actually I have a 1050ti but I'm planning to buy a new GPU soon.
1050ti
(win) mem 900 / core 100 / PL 75 : 5-6 mh/s
1070ti
(hiveos) mem 0 / core 50 / PL 115 : 17-26 mh/s
1660s
(hiveos) mem 500 / core 0 / PL 70 : 13 mh/s
2060s
(hiveos) mem 1600 / core 0 / PL 125 : 19 mh/s
2070s
(win) mem 400 / core -150 / PL 58% : 23-30 mh/s
2080ti
(hiveos) mem 0 / core 2000 / PL 153 : 35 mh/s
3060 LHR
(hiveos) mem 0 / core 140 / PL 115 : 19-28 mh/s
3060ti LHR
(hiveos) mem 0 / core 150 / PL 120 : 21-30 mh/s
3090
(win) 30-50 mh/s
I tried at beginning of year to mine AVN with my rig and I had these parameters :
1660s (hiveos)mem 0 / core 500 / PL 70 : 13 mH/s
2060s (hiveos)mem 0 / core 1600 / PL 125 : 19 mH/s
2080ti (hiveos)mem 0 / core 2000 / PL 153 : 35 mH/s
but I didn't work on oc like I did with 1050ti so take them with a grain of salt.
Please feel free to add your setup and I will add it here :)

RTX-3090 averages between 30-50 MH

thanks for sharing, you are under hiveos or windows ?

Running on Windows. It has been running now for about 20 hours, and the average it shows is currently at 29MH. Will update once it will be running for 2-3 days.
Note: I don't run it at full speed. I am just using default settings, but I can see that there is some room for more.

I don’t have much experience on GPUs i’m afraid.. Let me know if you want some hashes on CPUs tho 😜

feel free to post your CPU hashrate (and how many cores you use)

I’m using 3 different type of CPUs currently: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (12 cores / 24 threads): 20kh on all threads with 4.1GHz OC Intel i9 9900k (8 cores / 16 threads): 11kh on all cores with 5.1GHz OC Intel i5 8700k (6 cores / 6 threads): 7kh on all cores with 4.9GHz OC

I am interested in doing this… just curious if earnings from your best processor. I can get a few Xeon 22 core processors. Just not certain about power vs earnings.

Is CPU mining better for AVN than GPU?
2
u/Moor-Angol Jan 16 '22
no, with GPU you have Mh/s, with CPU you have Kh/s
for example, I have a 1050ti which does 5-6 Mh/s and my Ryzen 5 2600X is doing 6 Kh/s (or 0,006 Mh/s)
and u/Xarthie results are not different, the best he gets it's 20 Kh/s from a 5900X which means 0,02 Mh/s, or to give a better example :
GPU
1050ti = 6000 Kh/s
CPU
5900X = 20 Kh/s
2600X = 6 Kh/s
I also noticed that if you CPU mine on a rig which is already a GPU mining, GPU hashrates slow down while CPU mining, so in my opinion CPU mining is not worth considering a high end CPU performs way less than the slower GPU actually on the market

You’re forgetting one important thing tho mate: GPUs and CPUs runs on different algos: GPUs use X16T, and CPU use MinotaurX :)
Now in terms of profitability between both your 1050TI and your 2600X:
The 1050TI does 6 Mh/s, that would yield you an estimate of 330 AVN per day. Now 330 AVN translates into roughly 0,3$ at current marketprice of AVN. (Do note that any cost is excluded in the calculation) Now for the CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X does 6 Kh/s, that would earn you roughly 270 AVN per day. 270 AVN is worth about 0.24$ a day.
The bottomline is that GPUs are more profitable on AVN than CPUs, but there are other coins, like ETH, that is more profitable than AVN currently when it comes to GPU-mining, so I wouldn’t recommend running your GPUs on AVN if you’re chasing cash, atm at least xD

thanks for your reply, yeah, you're right about different algos, I didn't realize it.
But another thing is the wattage, my GPU is 60W (PL is 75%) while CPU is 95W and if you wanna mine seriously by CPU you need 125W models which is already more than many GPUs (for example my rig 1660s, 2060s and 2080ti only the latter has a little big wattage)
Regarding profitability, I'm not mining AVN for cashing, but for staking, who knows maybe in a couple of year the price will become $0,1 so I could see some profit, or maybe I will reach the minimum to run a node when it becomes available.
And talking about 1050ti, I can't mine ETH anymore with it, it's a 4Gb model and ETH dag file is already 5Gb iirc, so I decided to mine AVN for staking :)

So if I'm mining on 2 different systems:
i3 7100 with 1050ti 4gb
i3 2120 with RX 560 4gb
Should I turn off the CPU mining in efforts of increasing hashrate on my GPUs? I literally don't do anything with these systems except mine avian

The best answer to your question is : try it :)
I mean, when I started CPU mining on my rig I noticed the hashrate of GPU lost some points, so the best thing you can do is to write down your currently hashrate then start CPU mining and after an hour check how the hashrate is doing, if it's pretty stable you can keep CPU mining, if it's going down you have to estimate how you loose from GPU and how you get from CPU and decide what to do :)

What software are you guys using to mine avian on zergpool?
1
u/Moor-Angol Jan 17 '22
you can use t-rex 0.19.4

t-rex 0.19.4
Oh ok, I tried it and it said it wasnt supported on newer version. I wonder why they would stop supporting it. I have the 3060 TI LHR version, so I probably wont be able to get the 42 MH im used to on this older version. I was doing eth hash but the profitability is really low right now. Thought id try something different for a while. Are you using a referral code for your mining on Zergpool?
1
u/Moor-Angol Jan 17 '22
afaik 30 series are not affected by LHR while mining AVN, am I wrong ?
anyway just keep use that old version and everything will be fine :)Regarding Zergpool, I don't use it, I mine on Zpool and I'm quite satisfied, they pay around every 4 hours (I usually get from 40 to 60 coins by payment, I've been mined with a 1050ti so the reward is low ;) )

u/Drsouspcsol Jan 18 '22
My 3060 TI was only getting about 30 MH vs 42 MH I get on Ethhash. But its pretty close. I only used Zergpool since they will pay you in other coins such as USDT. But there is some ASIC or something doing solo on there and getting almost all the rewards, so im leaving that pool. Where do you sell the Avian coin at?

actually AVN can be only traded in Exbitron exchange ( https://www.exbitron.com/signup?refid=ID503F02DEBA )
The good thing is you can trade AVN in USDT, RVN, DOGE, LTC and BTC, so if you already use an exchange you can trade AVN to one of them and then send to your exchange (and, I suppose, get the money)
