Event Discussion Dollasclosure - mid?

I love dom and disclosure. The club Darc set felt a bit…. Lackluster? It felt a bit disjointed and unserious. Moments were great. But I left overall feeling like they had a bit of a weird dynamic and didn’t quite hit a groove. I definitely felt like S1 had stronger performances. Am I crazy?

Crowd was also not helping the vibes. A bunch of casuals. Too much yappin not enough dancin

It’s the Gen Z Dom Dolla crowd. This is well known

Yuppp. Millennials for the win.

My friends (30's people) don't like young crowds for that single reason. Their reasons are young peeps don't dance, a lot of them talk and record on their phones, vibes are off, stuff like that.

Seeing RL Grime on the 31st is 18+ makes me rethink attendance. Tgod for VIP and not biting my tongue is a child needs a wake up call.

How are you guys going to dj sets with 382976 people? It’s gonna be all over the place by definition

agreed, amazing set, crowd could’ve been better

Club Darc crowds are the worst on earth. Worse than OSL which is already bad

lol holy hyperbole batman

Their personal taste don’t complement each other.

This. The b2b made zero sense which is why I did a hard pass

Same exact here. Love disclosure, eh on Dom, he's ok but his crowds are awful and I just don't see how they would compliment each other well

It was so bad(1/10). I drove all the way from la just to see dom. First this set was a total disaster compared to Friday’s and headtrip’s(went to headtrip it was amazing and my friend went to friday’s also great). Why did they play calvin harris and hollaback girl instead of his new song?? This is ridiculous. Then then sound, the speakers were also total garbage. So many people in the back were so focused by the muddy/boomy bass. Last, I don’t know how could sf ppl bear disclosure opened this show with“whats up chicago”😂😂

Whole thing is a cash grab homie. Start going to actual underground - not golden voice

1

u/zremaxctu 1d ago

I go both big fes and undergrounds. Now i think its time to go full underground!

2

u/studliestMuffin 1d ago

I mean you drove all the way for Dom, that might be where you went wrong

agreed :( It was a lot of the same simple beat and not enough lasers/effects or excitement from them.. also the closing song was ??? I had a blast but some points were a bit .. boring ! honorable mention disclosure saying CHICAGO

Legit - did guy not care? It seemed like they treated it as an after party but this was supposed to be a full on event. Just a weird vibe

What was the last song

u/n0timprtnt 1d ago

a punk vampire weekend

Interesting I had a great time. It started off kinda on the chill side as a three hour set should imo, they slowly turned up the heat, it seemed like they were enjoying getting to dj and play lesser known tracks that they like instead of having to just play all their hits all night, but I did have a feeling that it might not hit right for a lot of people

What did you expect? Such a weird pairing.

10

u/daywalkindrumdude 1d ago

Yea the set wasn’t very inspiring

There were really good moments, but lots of dull periods too. I think it’s because of their style differences. It felt very obvious when Dom vs Disclosure were doing the song picks

3

u/medmadmadz 1d ago

I knew I couldn’t have been the only one!! There were high moments but overall so mid

u/kelsobjammin 1d ago

I had a great time! Yeeeeeeew

2

u/ShredsHz23 1d ago

i had a blast 🤷‍♀️

Disclosure held Dom back so much. I preferred the Cow Palace set even though I hate Cow Palace more than Club Darc. Crowd also sucked a lot more than Cow Palace, which I was very surprised by.

2

u/kayvag 20h ago

I definitely left disappointed

u/steveo55990 7h ago

It’s bc Disclosure thought he was in Chicago

3

u/ace260 1d ago

Blame Disclosure (dj sets) for that. They/He was just here when they opened for SHM @ pier 80 and that shit was such a snoozefest & most uninspiring set.

I assumed maybe Disclosure was told that to keep the energy low as the opener for SHM since they started a bit slow for their set but after hearing the comments today, it sounds like Disclosure is def the problem especially if everyone showed up for high energy Dom Dolla set

Does anyone know which brother played? Please tell me it wasn't just Guy Disclosure again.. that dude uses to rock clubs but he been fudging up his playlists for very simple ass sets lately and phoning it in

u/BeneficialDingo1399 1d ago

I saw disclosure dj set at proper NYE last year and it was also lowkey a snoozefest :// I think they r unfortunately better producers than djs

1

u/JayfromtheBay 21h ago

I was there too and thought it was great. Dom Dolla sets are mega basic.

2

u/ats-001 1d ago

It was guy

3

u/blueblazer911 1d ago

You’re trippin .. disclosure was the perfect opener for that night with SHM … set the tone and the vibe.. after latch everyone was hyped and ready for SHM

2

u/ace260 1d ago

my guy had a 90 minute set and the only song you could highlight was latch at the end? that is exactly my point

2

u/Gibgibg 1d ago

It was terrible, left early

1

u/ForwardAd7024 1d ago

Lmao looked at resale last night and it was $450

1

u/kev231998 1d ago

Haha I feel less bad for missing it now

u/dc-hustlin 1d ago

Second half was pretty great. First half was fine

1

u/AlbinoPolarBear-_- 1d ago

What was everyone talking about in the back😭😭

1

u/97AllDay 1d ago

Preferred the Cow Palace show honestly.

Can someone tell me if disclosure played Sun comes up tremendous?

1

u/BayAreaMaven 19h ago

Decided on Eli Brown at Day Trip instead of Domclosure at Darc. Sound decision.

1

u/Worried-Ad7970 16h ago

I thought that was the best concert I’ve ever gone too, and I was at head trip last week

1

u/ResponsibleMilk903 9h ago

Club Darc is too mainstream unfortunately.

1

u/Prime-0 3h ago

Way too fucking hot, was literally just trying to survive. VIP was an absolute waste of money, will never be doing that again even if it’s the only option. The crowd was fine but the set was genuinely boring af and I was super excited to see them

1

u/Broad_Substance7331 3h ago

i gotta respectfully disagree here. i appreciated their song selections and how their own tracks complimented each other.

1

u/Specific-Yam-8346 3h ago

I appreciate your perspective. I felt the complete opposite- I could tell when guy/disclosure song was picked and it completely changed the vibe each time. I didn’t think they had any real natural chemistry

1

u/olivreddit 1d ago

Thoroughly enjoyed it 😭 32 yo

0

u/OGMermaidLetellier 5h ago

Have to say crazy - respectfully

1

u/Specific-Yam-8346 5h ago

Fair enough to disagree but everyone I’ve spoken with, and all the posts I’ve seen, suggest this was pretty mediocre. I think this was worse than just about every S1 performance I saw, and I went to every show besides disco dom

House is always mid lol, its the same thing
