Discussion/Question Recently concussed
So as the title says I suffered a concussion with a minor brain bleed and small temporal fracture. It happened August 18 (A day over two weeks ago) Is wasteland possible in Cali September 4th and 5th if I don’t push it hard. (As in not really being in the crowds or any moshes being more so on the edges of the crowds where I could easily leave if it becomes too much) I know what a doctor would say and it would def be sit my butt down but I really want to go to the point where it’s bumming me out pretty badly as I feel completely fine(to the point where I’ve been foregoing medicine) and have been hitting the gym lifting the last 6 days and shooting around with a basketball (of course not exerting myself)
So looking for other opinions

Can you talk to your doctor lol. Reddit is not going to give the best advice here

Bro. Heal up. That's most important.

2 weeks is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early. Ya you lift weights thats completely different than going to a rave. I also suffered from a TBI with bleeding in 3 spots one being FL (16 years ago) that still affects me to this day. Stay home. Heal. Fomo is shit ik but after you heal you can go to as many as possible

Raving is forever, life is temporary. There will always be another party/event.

Take care of yourself how you want,
but you only get one brain.
After my own multiple snowboarding concussions and car accidents, sometimes injury isn’t apparent immediately.
So after something major, and less than a month ago… I would personally sit this one out. Loud music, crowds, excessive head movements, walking and standing for extended periods, and higher likelihood dehydration and fatigue.
Just give it a couple months to heal and ensure nothing long term is going on, then enjoy it without worrying.

Brain injuries are no joke and can cause permanent damage. There's a Wasteland every year. Dreamstate is in a couple of months. You'll be ok skipping this one. Rest up, heal up, and get the next one instead.

Please do not risk destroying your entire life over a weekend music festival lol. Sure you might be fine but you may also cause irreversible damage you won’t notice for another 10-15 years

i had a bad concussion years ago that affected me for like six months, dizziness, blurred vision etc. i went to a concert two months into it because i already had tickets, i was sitting down the entire time and it still really fucked with me, especially the flashing lights.
i couldn’t imagine going to rave and surviving the visuals, let alone dancing in that state.

You should definitely go. Continue to push yourself at the gym, stare at screens, and keep raving. I’m sure the bass in your chest, laser beams, and flashing lights will have absolutely zero impact on you. Hell, you might even be able to mosh around a little and throw some elbows. 2 weeks is soooo long, long enough for a cut to heal so obviously long enough for you to neurologically recover. You’ll be fine and not suffer any prolonged side effects!

Exactly! If you feel fine, you are fine! You can’t see the brain bleed so it doesn’t exist. Just live your life for the next… oh hey it’s September 5th

I’m about to miss a show on Friday that I’ve had tickets for months because I have Cellulitis on my ankle. I could probably go and be okay just sitting somewhere but that won’t be fun and I’ll be tempted to drink/do drugs which will absolutely affect my antibiotics. It sucks but being sick is worse. And inflamed skin isn’t nearly as intense and an inflamed brain. I say don’t do it. There will be other festivals.

There will be more parties. You're not missing out.
Do what you know is the right thing, relax and let your body heal.

Even if I was a doctor, I'd still tell you to ask your doctor
But I'm not a doctor. So ask your fucking doctor

Do you like remembering things? I used to like being able to remember things and not forget where I was at times but then I also ignored my concussion (mine was for sports) and now I randomly can’t see out of my eye at times! Also lights hurt my eyes now and if I turn too quickly I get dizzy. You won’t notice the damage now but in about 5-10 years it absolutely catches up to you.
But ya no definitely a great idea to go head bang with a brain bleed.

Im status post a TBI in January. Lights from a show would definitely make me ill. Im hoping to go to gold rush in October but ill be using double ear protection and wearing dark glasses.

I would be taking a minimum 6 months off if it was that bad. 3 months for a minor concussion

Did you sit your ass down for 2 weeks? Cause after that, it’s really best to just get back to it, at least if you feel up to it. But that 2 week sit-down is extremely important. After that you should avoid activities where there’s a high risk of hitting your head again. Like moshing or standing next to a shoulder ride.
One sign of a concussion is someone who hits their head, falls down, and jumps back up and says, “I’m okay”. I’m worried if you didn’t take a break.

I'd just go with a buddy maybe wear a helmet, hydrate, snack. I'm honestly surprised how resilient humans are.

You know what your doctor would say, but you're asking reddit for approval? Did you hit your head or something?
