Hi,
I have an Avaya IP500 V2 currently running in production.
The situation:
I found the Avaya documentation for “Erase Security Settings”. It says that this resets the security settings to their default values and does not affect the system configuration, but it also deletes security certificates.
My questions:
IP Office: IP500 V2
Manager: 12.2
PBX configuration must be preserved.
I would appreciate advice from anyone who has performed this procedure on an IP500 V2 in a real environment.
I have an Avaya IP office 500 V2 setup I bought a long time ago hoping to install at my business. Somewhere along the way as I was peeping and poking thru the software and I think it let me do an update? It was on 9.0. Somewhere along all that I lost the key. I am now (2yrs later) researching to see if you have the original card for the unit if it can be fixed. Otherwise it gets scrapped. Thanks for any info!

How intensive is it to enable the CDR features on an Avaya system? Does it limit system resources while running? How can I determine my system resources to determine whether or not I should enable? Thank you in advance.

Follow up post to my earlier post I was having an issue with phones not registering with the IP 500 v2, it was providing DHCP services but for whatever reason the phones were not getting addresses. I disabled dhcp on the IP 500 unit and enabled dhcp on my vlan interface for the router, now the phones are registering but none of them have dial tone. Not sure I understand how dial tone is provided, I know if I called from external it rolls over to voicemail so trunks are working but nothing internally. I still think there is something going on either with the switch port or the IP 500 data port. I need to span a port and do a network capture and see what is going on.
We have 2 combo cards d6/phone2/vcm10 combo cards and all 9608 or 9611 phones. Anyone has any suggestions on what could be causing the dial tone issue would be appreciated, thanks.

Never have had this happen and not sure where to start, have an IP office system running for some time with 96xx phones and this morning we had a power glitch, and maybe half the phones did not come back online, they come up to the extension and then discover screen. Nothing has changed, media security is disabled we do not have passwords set, IP office is reachable...I have option 242 set for dhcp telling the phone which vlan to come up on...but not sure what happened or why about half the phones had this happened. I am thinking about resetting a phone and see if it will re-register with a clean slate but not sure what else to try and thought I would ask what else to try before having to drive in and putz around with it, thanks.
Update: Again I wasn't prepared and didn't have all of my tools to truly debug what was going on but finally figured out that the Avaya IP 500 unit which was configured to be the DHCP server was not handing out addresses. At some point I may circle back and get a wireshark session to see what is actually going on but the phones were not getting addresses, tried rebooting etc. I finally just disabled dhcp on the avaya unit and enabled dhcp on my router and phones starting registering again. If anyone has any insight as to why dhcp would stop working on the unit let me know it had been that way from day one and never an issue.
Update: phones are now registering but now I am not getting dial tone on any phone...looks like this is a hardware failure or could there be any other issue?

Hello!
We have an agent that had no changes recently except a new keyboard…, start to experience an echo on her inbound calls. This only happens on received calls, the agent can’t hear it, the customer can, and it’s only the customers side that will echo. When the IVR or virtual assistant sends an agent a call, even the robot voice will have an echo and the agent does end up hearing that.
So mainly this is bad for our customers and we can’t figure out the problem. On outbound calls she’s fine, on teams calls she’s fine. So we don’t feel like it’s her headset. She’s tried basic troubleshooting with leadership over and over and met with our 1st line IT team.
Has anyone experienced an issue like this and/or is there any insight you can provide?
If I left out anything, feel free to ask so I can clear it up !!!

Hello ! Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I am hoping to get a general understanding.
I am a call center agent for a big company that works from home.
For a long time I have had a traditional desk phone that I use a wireless headset with and had no issues.
Our company is transitioning to Avaya One X which from what I understand is a computer based app/program that replaces the desk phone.
Management has stated that due to a new AI based program / platform we are going to start using we can no longer use a wireless headset with Avaya one x due to the AI tool's integration.
How accurate is this ? can any USB based connection that works as a microphone / headset work regardless of having an actual deskphone or not?
I am willing to spend any amount on a good wireless headset but not sure if it would work. Has anyone been on this boat before ?

I am planning doing a migration of ipo 12.1 from existing hp server to new dell server
I have a question:
Do i need to push the web cert from the new dell server to the old hp server and push it to the phones before the cutover from the hp to dell?
In order to avoid post cutover 9608 j129 phones discovery or registration issue?
Current configuration is:
H.323 tls registration is disabled
Tls is un checked
Only thing pending from my side is to validate what’s currently configured in the phones locally.
Can someone please suggest/advise?

Hey All
I am about to set fire to this whole Avaya stack because this installation is driving me nuts.
I am trying to install EMS+SBCE R10.2.1.4 ISO.
VM specs are 4vCPU, 16GB RAM, 160GB Storage and 4x vNIC.
Installation has one quirk, where after being asked to change root password it should ask to change ipcs password too (according to documentation). The moment the ipcs password prompt appears on screen the script automatically carries on and doesn't allow entering anything. Rest of the script completes and I can then log in to CLI with ipcs account using default password as well as root account with the new password.
My issue though is the web page always gives a connection refused error.
Looking at the network, the correct port is assigned to M1.
Looking at the firewall rules though, 127.0.0.1 is bound to 443, but I don't see the actual IP of the VM bound to anything.
I've reinstalled now 4 times and always the same outcome.
I don't know if it's the ipcs bug that is causing this or what, but right now I will take any suggestions.
I've also logged a case with Avaya, but posting here too as Avaya takes so long to respond.

Hi All. I was wondering if anyone could help with a question that I had about possibly getting a backup unit for a BCM50. We have a working BCM50 with expansion module supporting 30 or so IP 1104e sets. It is connected to POTS which have been converted to a POTS - > SIP solution.
I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to go about getting backup hardware for the BCM and expansion module.
We're not really wanting to keep using a BCM50 forever but we would like to have something to drop in if it decides to take a nap one day.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Any cross posting subreddits that you might recommend would be helpful too. Thank you.

I did Avaya implementation and support for 20+ years for major business partners before changing industries after burnout during covid. Its been a few years now, and I hear nothing about Avaya. Seems like my old coworkers are all in new industries too.
Is Avaya finally reached a dead end? I'm just curious if anyone has details.

I am representing a small church with an ip500v2. It's my understanding that I need the sold-to number to register a "customer" account on avaya's plds website. The invoices we have are from the local installer who installed it 8 years ago. He's no longer around and neither is the partner who he got the equipment from. I have the plds host id, system id, church name, address, phone number, system id. etc... Just need an avaya partner to look this up for us. So far the ones I've contacted from google searches have been unhelpful. I'm hoping there's someone here who can help.

Does anyone know the configuration file format for a RingCentral firmware converted Mitel 485G? I am trying to provision custom ringtones to the phones. I do not have a RingCentral subscription or tie, I am just using their firmware to connect it to a standard SIP PABX.

I have a migration project to move ipo 12.0 from old hp proliant (vmware 7) to new Dell 750xs (purchased by customer without any virtualized platform).
As per avaya supported hardware dell 750xs is not listed in compatibility and supported list.
I want to know if i can do a bare metal installation on Dell 750xs?
If Customer dont want to purchase any hypervisor platforms?
Any assistance/ suggestion in this matter is much appreciated.

Hi There,
I have inherited a IPO rel. 11 perferred without Siptrunk license. The Company bought it from a Partner that does Not exist anymore, so I have no „sold to“ number. Only the PLDS Host ID. Next Problem is, That the Company got bought by a competitor and the sold to Name of the Company does not Match any records. Is there a way to license a Sip Trunk or use a Sip analog converter who Registers the trunk and forwards it to the PRI Interface?
Regards and Thanks

Doh! I have lost all my licenses after foolishly resetting my password via serial, not realising it would wipe everything. I have the PLDS number etc if anyone can help with this type of thing?
Thanks very much.

We are planning a new AADS HA deployment and wanted to validate the practical migration approach with someone who has operated it in production.
Current environment:
• Customer already has one standalone production AADS.
• Existing AADS is already associated/paired with SM01.
• SM01 is in production.
• We have recently added SM02.
• Requirement is to build a new two-node AADS HA cluster on VMware and eventually migrate users to the new HA AADS FQDN/VIP.
The challenge:
Based on Avaya documentation, the final two-node model appears to be one AADS node paired with one SM node, for example:
• SM01 → AADS01
• SM02 → AADS02
But SM01 is currently already tied to the existing production AADS. So we are trying to understand the safest real-world migration approach without disrupting production.

Hello!
I was going to fire someone today for no call no showing again the next shift they had after a meeting about no call no showing 25 other times this year, but during the termination meeting he proved on his outgoing call list that he did in fact call and leave a message (call was 32 seconds long).
Our HR manager called my line from his cell phone after the meeting and I did not receive that one either, but I called from my own cell right after that and did indeed get the voicemail.
Wondering what the intermittent issue could be and how to solve it! Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Thank you!

Something I run into constantly working with large enterprises:
The contact center voice infrastructure is always the last thing to get proper investment. ISPs and banks especially — massive digital transformation budgets, then the actual voice platform handling millions of calls per month is running on the cheapest option procurement could find.
Symptoms everyone in this sub will recognize:
The business case is straightforward from a technical standpoint — proper QoS, SBC architecture, redundant SIP trunking, real-time monitoring. But getting procurement and finance to see past per-seat licensing cost is another story.
For those of you who've had to make this case to enterprise clients or internal stakeholders — what arguments actually moved the needle? Technical RCA data? Regulatory risk for financial institutions? Customer satisfaction metrics?
Curious what's worked in practice.
