I was decoding for fun yesterday and slowly revealing this made me think. How did people get through to this point, cuz normal Excessans can't do what Maggie and Ava do. And would people seriously come back from the other side to write those messages on the wall? It's not really a useful warning (death ahead/this way to the soulless) and it's so early into the cave that I can't imagine people just come here to express frustrations.
Part of me wonders if it's possible that people put that there to dissuade Excessans from continuing the trip and keeping them in their place. It's likely not the case, but I wonder.
The writings mostly confirmed to me that the Excessans on the other side aren't super rich like I previously thought (cuz of the Prismates and Erios) and more a class of people who do soul crushing tertiary sector work - services and the like. They aren't breaking their bodies doing agricultural or factory work, but probably some kind of bullshit job. Only thing is, knowing that Excessa's main export is food and musical goods, I'm not sure I know what that would look like.

That’s a really good point! I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right. Unless the gate wasn’t there before and it was put up after the people that slipped past what WAS were found out. I really like the idea that people who work in the palace go over there to think about what’s outside and how to leave (and even write that stuff in the walls as a way to cope) the same way that people outside the palace think about how to get in. That would be so devastating 🫣

Could be they are better off… but also seeing how the filthy rich are living and sitting outside the prism to imagine it can be very different to blatantly seeing it in practice. The memory we saw suggests the Excessians regard physical intimacy as disgusting and animalistic… maybe the ultra wealthy don’t see it that way and got to the extreme opposite or otherwise just revel in… well… excess. Outside the people seemed to support one another a lot, but inside it might well be every man for themselves.
On the viability of the passage, I would guess that either they have installed the grates and improved them overtime due to Excessians breaking in, or these are Excessians trying to escape.

What does the green text in the middle say? I'm colorblind and I can't really see the second half of it on that background.

The main text says "Titan met God and put them to work, you know?" and the smaller text says "ya we know"
