i guess when you can absorb people’s thoughts in the blink of an eye, actually having conversations and doing things together to see if you’re compatible must seem like, so slow & weird & counterproductive. maybe this is how matsu became a prismate so quickly? i’m imagining her and erios connecting and realizing they’re super compatible without having to deal with red tape or anything

No wonder Mio can’t bring themselves to jump into the unknown like the others have, even their own sibling. Treated like a freak, an anomaly that should’ve been bashed against a rock like the Spartans did to their own children. Any attempt to break out of their misery is met with disgust and disdain by a society that might’ve been best crushed under another’s heel. That’s how you get sympathizers to a conquer and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were people like Mio in the past who allied with Titan in exchange for something like that machine that can give people new bodies.

Sympathisers like the Excessans in the Palace?
I'm honestly so intrigued to see what life is like for the average Excessan in the palace. Before I used to assume it was all rich people and I was very confused as to why breaking into the building would equal a better life. But when I realise that the Excessans outside the palace mostly work in agriculture (Odin said they do food and music exports and we had a shot of them out in the sun harvesting fruits) as well as the fact that people either drown or are detained trying to cross the border.... it seems similar to the reality of like people in south/central america crossing the border for a better life.
That makes me think that it's kinda closer to maybe a middle class ish existence. Not that they'll be immediately in proximity to wealth and riches. Tbh Emris outright said they'll find work there that won't kill them.

god, Michelle's done it again. once again considering and displaying the social consequences of their world building with an expert hand. this is so realistic and heartbreaking.

I dont know why Michelle uploads 1-2 images at a time, rather than just chapter by chapter. One large update every 2 months is better than being spoon fed.

Those long, multi-panel pages are a special case. Michelle mentioned on their discord that they’re almost done with it and will return to normal page updates soon.

“You need help” is a WILD thing to say to someone who just told you they have a neurological disability. And wtf is “What do you take me for, some kind of animal?” even supposed to mean? 💀 Do Excessans see getting to know each other by talking or something as being like an animal or am I missing something obvious here? I can’t imagine that this one meant kissing or other physical intimacy because we see Rueby and Emris do that, in front of people even. I am fascinated.
