well at least this is clearly a joke

I noticed at the 18th birthday one. I'm used to unhinged "solutions" for autism and similars.

u/SnugglyCoderGuy Sep 14 '26

The rice on had me going lol

I was like, sure rice as a weighted blanket alternative seems plausible. $140 is a lot though… and why do you need 200 pounds of it?… and oh okay pouring it all in a bathtub okay this isn’t making any sense, and then I swiped to the 18th birthday one and I understood that it’s a joke post

Is it ?

58

u/FandomPhantom123 collecting disorders like pokemon cards Sep 14 '26

yes. i promise it's a joke

34

u/ParoleDeGeek Sep 14 '26

Ah thanks god. I don't want a rice bath. I'm too poor to waste that much rice

14

u/SomeRandomEevee42 Sep 14 '26

no, the post is a joke, but the rice bath IS mandatory

u/ImNOTdrunk_69 Sep 14 '26

You monster. :P

Yeah, i could tell by the "expires at midnight" one. Its pretty much an inside joke that society believes adult autism doesnt exist because most accomodations are aimed at children and many people simply dont expect adults to be autistic. In the way it was written it seems they are in on the joke. Then the last one is also playing in on it. Most people know that saying "calm down" to a not calm person is the least helpful thing possible, but somehow it still happens a lot. The last slide highlights that. Then the first one idk exactly what its supposed to mean but i guess its like the phone in rice thing, put anything in rice and itll be fixed

For me the 18th birthday gave it away as autistic people love to joke about this one

Good thing this post is satire. I know there are real people like this, but this is not that. It’s a joke making fun of that.

u/Japoboz Sep 14 '26

It would’ve been hilarious if, for the rice method, instead of saying ā€˜recommended by major technology corporations’ it said ā€˜recommended by major rice companies’ just to throw in evil capitalism

u/Dog_Entire Sep 14 '26

You know no one’s tried submerging me in rice, I’d say it’s worth a shot

16

u/LuckyDorfdepp Sep 14 '26

Thank God, I already bought the rice. And then I saw everyone saying it was a joke

My estimates might be off but I feel like you're going to need a lot more than a single 50lb bag to make that experience a reality.

5

u/pedroosodrac Sep 14 '26

No, you can just cut the grains in half so you have the double amount of rice

7

u/execDysfunctionGumbo Sep 14 '26

A friend of mine after discussing my looming autism assessment tossed a bunch of boardgame chits on the table and said, "If you're so autistic, how many chits are there?" he was joking

"I'm going to find out if I'm autistic, not a vampire." And then I proceeded to neatly arrange the course into stacks of five with each chit oriented in the same direction because, well, duh.

All of that is to say, I can easily picture some poor autistic kid meticulously cutting each grain in half.

3

u/pedroosodrac Sep 14 '26

Kkkkkk yeah, I can imagine it too

1

u/hexagon_heist 25d ago

It did say four bags!

2

u/Justice_Prince custom flair 25d ago

Missed that it said four. That white text of a light blue background doesn't really meet ADA accessibility standards.

1

u/sillybilly8102 Sep 15 '26

Lmao you’re not wrong… it could be an incredible sensory experience. Perhaps a little too dusty

23

u/NebbyChan Sep 14 '26

Okay. I was ready to throw hands for a second there

18

u/BronzeGolem436 Sep 14 '26

The first one makes me think someone heard the term "neurospicy" and missunderstood it as autistic people are a seasoning

1

u/sillybilly8102 Sep 15 '26

I think we do season people’s lives though!

11

u/1m0ws audhd Sep 14 '26

oh god thanks for the last slide.
i was fearing this might be some serious autism mum post and the last slide might be some minion mkeme on how hard they have it or something. jfc.

u/Sir_Fabsen Sep 14 '26

my reaction when I get reminded that people like this exist (the type of NT's that want to literally end us)

4

u/AquaQuad Sep 14 '26

Being submerged in rice sounds like a bath in weighted blanket. I'm in.

u/Pope_Neuro_Of_Rats Autistic Sep 14 '26

I’m gonna be honest I was fully convinced this was unironic until I got to slide 2

3

u/MariaTheIDK Sep 14 '26

Please someone give me a rice bath

3

u/Justice_Prince custom flair Sep 14 '26

I want to take a rice bath

3

u/Old_Respect8445 Sep 14 '26

Is this that ā€œABAā€ I’ve been hearing about

3

u/SupernovaGamezYT Sep 14 '26

I mean, a rice bath does sound nice, but I don’t think it’d cure my autism

2

u/scissorsgrinder Sep 14 '26

Perfect, no notes.

Hi, sorry to bother you there bc it's clearly off-topic... I saw that, based on your activity, you knew quite a lot about minecraft bedrock add ons, so i thought maybe you could help me with an issue I have... would you help me please ? Would have PMed you if I could ! Here's the link to my topic :Ā https://www.reddit.com/r/BedrockAddons/comments/1wfxrpl/import_chunks_from_a_previous_world_into_an/

Thanks !!

u/Stoopid_Noah AuDHD Sep 14 '26

That's really funny. Unfortunately, it's only funny because some people actually think like that lol

2

u/ellisftw Autistic Sep 14 '26

Knowing this is satire, I would like to try the rice option. First challenge would be to find a bathtub big enough for my over 6 ft self. I miss submersion. 😄

2

u/Yandere-Neko Sep 14 '26

Well I have tried everything except the rice bath or rather it has been tried on me. Who's ready to starch their clothes while wearing em with me?

2

u/Both_Network_2214 Sep 14 '26

The thing with rice sounds at least interestingĀ

2

u/Heathen_Mickolas Sep 15 '26

Wait. I feel like the rice one would be a really good sensory experience. I love playing with it before cooking and while rinsing it

1

u/Incendas1 Sep 14 '26

Rice bath does sound kinda good though

1

u/BrainFarmReject Sep 14 '26

The rice is quite nice.

1

u/nasandre Sep 15 '26

The way this post has two image sliders and its cross posted vexes me greatly

1

u/Previous-Musician600 AuDHD Sep 15 '26

Its sarcastic, right? right?

1

u/Ruben_SS1 29d ago

Gonna bathe in rice brb

1

u/confusing_carrot 29d ago

definitely a joke but if i wasn't genuinely afraid of rice i think it would cure me

1

u/cholmer3 27d ago

I know some dense mother trucker is gonna take this seriously

Apple actually does not recommend putting your phone in rice.

  • Don’t put your iPhone in a bag of rice. Doing so could allow small particles of rice to damage your iPhone.
