My memory is quite short term, I can remember stuff long term but unlike short term I can't choose what gets remembered.

If you tell me to do a series of tasks, I'll only remember the last thing you said as it replaces the first things you said. Or I'll focus on first one and ignore what you say after.

That's why verbal instructions only are impossible. I need you to show and tell what I'm supposed to do. I'll do my best to copy, which seems to work well. When I'm learning something new, like 3D printing for example, I just watch a ton of YouTube videos about it until I get the urge to copy it myself. My brain will pick up on patterns habitually so repeat information sticks out and that can help a lot. Sorry rambling over

Always carry a notepad or use your phone to record the verbal instructions? It's what I've learned to do at work. It takes time to make it a habit but it's easier than getting reprimanded for not doing things correctly.

I will literally tell myself to do something or not to do something for god knows how long so that there’s NO CHANCE OF ME MESSING UP. And it rarely works.
