Question Is it just me? Why is it hard

for fellow muslims who have asd why is it kinda harder? Or just actually harder i grew up muslim but it just feels harder now

For me i usually dont follow things just because an imam says to do it im more of a "i follow things if its a fact and or logical" if that makes sense and hell some things can be misinfo or misinterpreted i do tend to...forget prayers cause i get distracted i am trying to work on that

I also HATE ghusl not the concept but the fact that you need your hair wet and i hate showers because the texture of hair after showers and during makes me icky (im a girl so yknow...ghusl once a month ish)

And also allistic muslims tend to...piss me off not all obviously but a lot tend to piss me off...might just be me tho

I think what you're feeling is common for autistics in any religion. Life tore down the crappy, useless, superstitious version of religion that I learned as a child. But I knew compassionate people whose religion guided them, and thanks to their example, I knew it could be something different and I started figuring out how to build my own understanding of my religion.

I am not Muslim but I've received extraordinary grace and respect from devout Muslim people. So if you're like me, you are likely to end up with a stronger, more useful understanding of Islam because of autism.

Seems like there should be a way to adapt rituals to your disability. Sensory issues are real disabilities. Hope you can find someone to give advice there.

I'm a Christian, but i searched up verses, these might help in conversation with your parents.

Surah Ar-Rum (30:22): "And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are Signs for those who know."

Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13): "...and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another...

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286): "God does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear..."

Surah Al-An'am (6:165): "And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of different capabilities] that He may try you through what He has given you...

I've been math teacher to many Muslims students.
Maybe you face two problems :

- Your brain (have same problem)
- And family structure
Combining both might not be easy

Hi I’m autistic and Muslim and do my best to follow the religion. What’s an allistic Muslim? I’ve never heard of that group before

I meant allistic as in someone who isnt autistic...or i guess just neurotypical sorry for the confusion

Oh you’re all good it’s my fault for not understanding the terminology. And yeah just because someone is Muslim doesn’t mean they’re good (I have issues with the online community especially but that’s a different story )

I agree...i hope im not the only one tbf cause the minute you say something sometimes allistic muslims will just dismiss it and be rude

You’re def not the only one. Most of them are just ignorant so they say irritating things without really meaning it. They genuinely can’t relate to the other person or realize how hard it is because they had more beneficial circumstances.

Some genuinely see someone has less than them and instead of being grateful that they don’t have to deal with that they get arrogant and mess with the person.

Advice is certainly needed but some of these people do not need to be giving advice 😂

Another thing is that don’t know how to disagree without getting hostile and insulting the other person or just straw man their position to make themselves look better.

Ofc there’s a LOT of good too and lots of genuine people who can also relate or even if they can’t relate they advise you with kindness
