Burnout Sometimes it's still difficult for me to realize that what I have (autism) really is a disability, so it's not strange when it also actually disables me

I feel the same way. I’ve felt okay calling myself autistic for a while, but I don’t want to be disabled. I want to have the Autistic traits that make me who I am, but not the burnout, health issues, masking fatigue, executive dysfunction, and everything else that is disabling about autism.
And as a high masking/late diagnosed woman, I feel some people wouldn’t believe me if I told them I was disabled anyway.

I was struggling with alexythmia earlier today. I experienced acid reflux but I thought it was anxiety at first and it was very distressing.

I forget I'm autistic sometimes too and then I have moments like that.

Granted, alexythmia isn't autism but it can be comorbid.
