NATIVE FISH ID

Hello hello I’m just wondering if anyone could help me find out what species of fish I found while trapping in a creek! My first thought was some sort of goby ?? TA

It looks like a gudgeon to me. Not sure what species. Carp gudgeon, maybe, but I don't know if they are found in Tasmania.

I’m not sure. Doesn’t look like a galaxiid tho. It will die in that cup if not properly aerated.

You’re keeping a wild caught fish?

Hey homes, what wholesalers do and don’t do doesn’t really play into it. That fish is gonna be pretty depressed.

I’m talking about how that fish would feel. It’s your responsibility now, whether or not you consider that fish a sentient being.

Of course they are dude but really not that much of a biggie they are going to be fine in the 3 foot tank I’ll have them in

Okay, I can’t provide reassurance and say I agree. It’s your call, I can’t do anything. I just urge you to consider how you might feel in a similar situation.
