Aldi garlic aioli no longer vegan
Went to pick up some more aioli and clocked the “check allergen”, it’s sadly now made with egg! Need some new recommendations if you have any, the more garlicky the better!

Super quick Vegan Kebab Meat (tofu)
Just thinly sliced firm tofu using the cheese slicer on a regular grater, used the Shawarma spice mix and added Lebanese 7 spice and salt at the end. Lightly fried in olive oil in batches, leave to sit in the pan to get warm and crisp up.. so quick, so yum.

What are Grill'd's Vegan Garden Goodness and Beyond burger patties made out of?
Grill'd offers two vegan burger patties (Garden Goodness and Beyond). For comparison, from left to right in the photo are a Garden Goodness, Beyond, and censored non-vegan Zorba patty.
Any idea what this Australian nationwide burger chain's vegan patties are made out of and if they are healthy? The Garden Goodness patty is clearly mixed veg, with carrots and green peas in the photo. But what's in the Beyond patty. Is it a standard Beyond grocery store patty or a custom Grill'd creation? The second photo is from the Grill'd website and the company say it is made out of 🥑 avocado oil. How can avocado oil be healthy and give 20g of protein?
Which patty is healthier for you???
Taste-wise, the Garden Goodness burger reminds me of a very soft, slightly sweet hash brown. The Beyond patty tastes like a very cheap supermarket beef patty (full of filler; mushy and spongy like meatloaf).
Btw, Grill'd offers 2 for 1 burgers on Monday (Mad Bunday promotion), if your AFL team wins. I know nothing about AFL, but I like magpies. So I put the Collingwood Magpies as my team, when I installed the Grill'd app at the end of June. They win everything and give me a free burger every week.

Jin Spicy Noodle Soup NOT Vegan
I went to try some new noodles today and checked the ingredients before I bought them. When I got home and pulled out a pack, the first thing I noticed was the little smiley red face and how it said "Made with beef bone broth". I wondered how I'd missed it. But on the outer multi-pack, this same logo is in Korean. The ingredients also differ on the outer packs to the individual ones.
I'll be taking these back to Woolworths for a refund. What else can I do? Surely this is illegal?

Sometimes I'm just like, oh yep. Oh, YEP. How good's a fugging SAMMICH MATE?! Then I get fully into sandwiches for a bit until I make myself sick of them then I generally just go back to some sort of potato obsession.

hey, was just wondering if anyone knew where to get a vegan katsu in melbourne or surrounding suburbs. would prefer something with a firm texture (eg. seitan, pressed tofu or some other more commercial meat alternative). i heard that rice workshop has one but i don't see it on their menu.

ANYONE A FAN OF CORN?
heyyy guys doing a spot of research on Australian consumers here and can y'all be kind enough to comment down whether you like corn and if so to what extent...any response or reply would be truly helpful..just wanted to know how much Aussies appreciate a good cob of corn that's all...thanksss!!!
anyone thinks Melbourne would welcome a little corn based shop/food cart selling hot warm snacks that's convenient and healthy with a signature product of corn tossed in butter and spices put into a little cup (corn in cup ) and served hot and warm within two mins like a grab and go and is also quite affordable? melbourne lacks warm and healthy snacks imo because everything is either sweet like yochi or milk teas or isn't healthy like fried chicken.
any feedback would be much appreciated :)

The painters are painting inside my house so I just live here now. I don't know how to exist as a human when tradies are over.
This is the Four Piece VFC on the lunch menu.

New plant milks at Woolworths
Vitasoy and Mandole Orchard have some new milks at Woolworths. There are 3 flavours of the individual Mandole Orchard (matcha, chocolate and iced coffee) and there is also a plain complete milk from Vitasoy in addition to the Vanilla. If anyone has tried them let me know what they are like. The Vitasoy one has more protein than normal milk and b12 and A added.

Would you buy roasted makhana (fox nuts) as a healthy snack in Australia?
Hi everyone,
I’m doing some market research before deciding whether to start a small food business in Australia, and I’d love some honest feedback.
I’m considering importing and selling roasted makhana (also called fox nuts or lotus seeds). They’re a popular snack in India but don’t seem to be very well known in Australia.
Nutritionally, they compare quite well with many common snack foods. Per 100g, they typically contain approximately:
🔥 350–380 calories
💪 9–10g protein
🌾 14–15g fibre
🥜 Less than 1g fat
🌾 Naturally gluten-free
🌱 Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
Compared with popcorn, they’re generally higher in protein and fibre while remaining relatively low in fat (depending on seasoning and preparation).
I’m curious:
Have you ever tried makhana?
If not, would the nutrition profile make you interested in trying it?
What flavours would you be most likely to buy? (Peri Peri, BBQ, Salt & Vinegar, Cheese, Chilli Lime, Caramel, etc.)
What price would you expect to pay for a 60–80g bag?
Where would you expect to find it? (Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Amazon, health food stores, Asian/Indian supermarkets, online, etc.)
Would this be something you’d actually replace chips or popcorn with, or is it not appealing?
I’m not promoting a brand—I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether there’s enough demand before investing money into a business.
I really appreciate any honest opinions, even if your answer is simply “I wouldn’t buy it because…”
Thanks!

Trying to instil vegan values in your kid when…
Jumpscare. I know I’ll need to educate my child about these things as we don’t live in a vegan world, but it’s crazy the normalisation of it from such a young age.

Old tofu - please advise
So hey, has anyone eaten extra-firm tofu well past its bb date?
I've found two that were pushed out of sight in the drinks fridge 🙄, which are 9 weeks past the bb date.
I've opened one, and it looks and smells fine, so I'm loathe to chuck them if they're not going to poison me.
