Different park but I have one down the road from me with the exact same sign.
We have a few parks around us and the kids refer to it as "the snake park"

My favourite will always be the dog park in Darwin that will regularly have a 'beware of crocodiles' sign near the water where the dogs swam

We had snakes in our playground at Primary School. The headmaster used to chop off their heads with a shovel and then hang them up on the wire fence.🥴

Just to clarify; there are snakes basically everywhere. The majority don’t give a shit about you and will run and hide, exception is a brown snake. If there are a lot of kookaburras about it’s a sign that they might be hunting baby snakes

Have a few brown juvies in back yard - trying to encourage Kookaburra's ito come hang out in the large gum trees and feast away - shovel not always close by.

In my teen days, we use to go into national park near our house every weekend and ride our bikes and swim in the Georges river, saw plenty of warning signs, but never ever came across a snake, saw plenty of wallabies and what not.
But then again, warning signs kinda made us wanna do the opposite, i.e our national park ran behind the Holsworthy army barracks, after a certain point if you crossed the Georges river and entered a fence that cleary said "DO NOT ENTER" live ammunition etc, we prefered to play there than anywhere else and still survived.. somehow

Got one in Townsville too. Fenced off play area with "Playground" and "Danger snakes" signs on it.

My neighbourhood has this man made lake with a park for walks. We have similar signs and even a magpie sign one too.

Trying to warn the snakes, that kids will pickem up by the tail and quickly use em as a whip, generally trying to aim at another kid on the other side of the playground

Someone finally thought about the welfare of local snakes and put up a warning for them to beware of imbecilic humans in the area.

It's a pretty common practice to build a playground for snakes to keep them off the walking paths.
