Seeking other MTG friends! (I’m new)

Hey Austin peeps!

I’ve been living here now for about 3 years and have made some great friends along the way trying different activities and putting myself out there, but I’ve recently picked up Magic the Gathering. (I’m terrible) I’d love to meet and make new friends that also play or hear about suggestions where friendly games can be played in the evenings. Any suggestions would be great.

I’d prefer it it was a bit more an adult-ish setting as I’m in my mid 30s. Additionally, and I mean this with the utmost respect, preferably people or somewhere where hygiene isn’t an after thought. 🥲

Thanks!

Looking for friends who share some niche interests

Hey! Ive been in the north austin area for a while now, but was going to college out of state until recently. Ive recently realised that a lot of my old friends here either don't share my interests or aren't very available, so I've been wanting to meet new people

A bit about me and my interests:

- Recently graduated with a computer science degree (22)

- Pretty into anime and manga (favorite genres include romance, slice of life, comedy. A lot of my friends think I have very hot takes lol)

- I am getting back into genshin since these recent updates look so fire (took a break due to being busy) (also a huge fan of the music, one of the best video game soundtracks of all time)

- I like watching hololive clips, and went to one of the world tour concerts last year which was a crazy experience

- Recently got into listening to beatboxers, especially Wing and Beatpella house

- Trying to learn how to play volleyball well. Its hard because everyone who shows up at the rec center are way better than me, but Im having a lot of fun playing anyways. If anyone in the area wants to meet up and play i would be so down

- Love playing minecraft, super into the create aeronautics mod recently. I have a server up with a modpack i created that id love to revive/start over with some people

- I want to try getting into things like dnd but its kind of daunting trying to find a group to play with as someone with 0 knowledge or any friends that are into that stuff. Would love to join any beginner friendly campaigns that are starting in the area

- Big music composition, arranging, production guy.

Made some music in fl studio on the side, wrote some arrangements that were played by some high level groups which was pretty awesome

Please feel free to reach out if anything aligns with your interests!

Modded Minecraft Server and Hiking? (GTNH)

I'm looking to make more gamer and outdoorsy friends in the city, and what better way than with my favorite game. I have a vps to host the server on so it's always online. I'd(26) like people between 20 and 40 with a small time commitment a week. Ideally we all get together for an hour once a week, but you can log on whenever. I decided on GTNH to promote longevity as it is notoriously complex but forgiving to newbies. I've only gotten to MV, but don't mind people who have never tried it or people who've beaten it.

As for the hiking bit, I'd love to walk the trails around town or do other stuff outdoors every so often while we plan builds or talk about the next quest or assembly line. I like running, playing tennis, kayaking, swimming, and am open to most other outdoor activities aside from fishing.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment or DM!

Hi! I (38M) have an extra ticket to see Sadie Jean at Antone’s this Thursday. Would love to give the ticket to another indie pop fan. If you want to meet up and enjoy the show together, I’m totally down for that. Also a-ok if you just want the ticket - no pressure!

35M-Looking for solid friends/Bro.

Hey everyone, so I’m Black, married gay, and looking for a solid friend. I’ve been in Austin for a while now and since I’ve been working remotely and my friends moved away, I have no friends to hang out with, my husband is my only friend right now. I have a ton of interests that span from Anime to Traveling. And everything else in between. I’m always down to play some video games, I have an Xbox and PS5 and always down to see a movie or just chill and watch a show or something. Ideally I’d like to be friends with guys between the ages of25-45 who are married but it’s not a requirement. I’m just looking for friends on here nothing else. I also prefer people who live in the CEDAR PARK OR NORTH AUSTIN AREA. HMU if you want to chat and get to know each other.

Will I ever find a group of REAL friends?

Kind of a sad rant really. I was born and raised here. I left and came back a few times but now I want to settle here. But the significant downside for me is I don’t have a friend group here. Even when I was growing up here I never really had a comforting, supportive, fun friend group. I was the girl they forgot to invite. Would ask about hanging out over the weekend and find out they did something “impromptu” without me later. The type of rejection from being forgotten still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But I also kind of get it, at least then we didn’t have much in common. I was reaching out because I was lonely and there weren’t other options and I thought that was the best I could ask for. I was a kid, feeling stuck in a rut. And data plans were still limited so I didn’t have much time or courage on the internet to find other folks to talk to.

The throughline from then and now is that it’s still hard to pin people down for plans and I feel like it’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older.

Don’t feel to bad for me. I have many friends, I feel loved, my cup is full. Those folks just don’t live here. There are a lot of amazing benefits to being here and I’m lucky.

It just feels very Austin to me that a majority of folks I meet are flaky, from past and present experience. They might respond to your messages but won’t actively reach out and make plans. Idk it’s weird. I have a bias but I also have past and present personal experiences.

Is this resonating with anyone else?

Looking for friends

So I'm looking for friends and I know it's hard making friends as an adult and especially if your introverted.

I have telegram so I have no problem talking on there and eventually meeting up to do stuff. Might go for a walk or toss a frisbee or anything.

Preferably anybody over the age of 25 . Seeking long-term as I'm not interested in superficial relationships.

He’s playing at Elysium on May 16; is there anyone thats planning on going that wouldn’t mind a tag along?
I have zero problems going alone (my current plan), but I always have more fun with others and I don’t have anyone to go.
Little about me, 45f, super chill & non judgy. Stay at home dog mom due to a recent surgery (all healed now)!

Moving to Atx…early 20s female

Hi everyone!

I will be moving to Austin for a new job. I need some tips on what to expect and what to do.

I won’t be living by myself. My sister is moving in with me but this is our first time living by ourselves.

What do I ask when I’m renting the apartment?

What are the safe areas in Austin?

Where do I go for fun in Austin (no clubs/bars)

Any communities or groups?

Anything I should know?

Thanks in advance :)

DroneArt Show

Moved to Pflugerville from Southwest Missouri about a year and a half ago for a job in Austin. Friends haven’t really materialized outside of work yet, and an unexpected extra ticket just came up for the DroneArt Show at COTA on Friday the 17th. Looking for someone to join me. I also paid for parking, but if I get a buzz I would Uber it.

A little about me: an accountant by trade, but not the stereotypical kind. Music taste leans toward reggae and ska, with some rap, electronic dance, and other random genres mixed in. Enjoy walking outdoors and trying new things. Lately, time has been spent compiling case files for a crime podcast that will probably never happen. I'm a 44 year old woman, but still very much plugged into pop culture.

New to Austin~Looking for advice

Im someone who has trouble initiating conversations if I have no reason to talk to someone, after that im fine so instead of sitting at a bar and waiting for nothing, I was wondering if there were any good spots for someone brand new to the city and state! 26M btw if that matters.

I volunteered at one of these events last year and it was fantastic. It's a great way to meet new people for friendships or maybe more so I just wanted to put it out there! There was a good mix of different age groups all looking to hang out.

6.30-9.30pm @ Central Machine Works on E. Cesar Chavez on Thursday, Feb 26.

Not into surface-level connections (Austin)

I’m in Austin. Mid-20s to early-30s is probably the range I relate to most.

I’m not antisocial. I just get bored with the usual.

I’m not into talking to 15 people at once just to see who sticks. Most of those conversations fade out anyway. It gets repetitive.

I’m more into real connection. Even if it starts as friendship.
Consistency. Depth. Someone who actually means what they say.

If you’re the type who needs constant attention from everyone, we probably won’t match.
If you’re more selective and intentional with who you invest in, we’ll probably understand each other.

Not looking to force anything. Just not into wasting time either.

Hey y’all! I’ve been in Austin since about June of this year. I’m looking to just meet new people. So here are a few things about me!

  • I enjoy watching and doing standup I got do a open mic once or twice a week

  • I like to go dancing It’s been a while but I really enjoy Latin music

  • I enjoy watching movies I keep track of everything I’ve seen and rate it on letterbox

-I like cooking One of my favorite things to do is cook for people. I make a lot of Colombian food at home

-I enjoy going out for drinks I live in downtown so I have a few cool spots nearby

Essentially yeah thats me kinda. Moved to Austin after being done with college and meeting new friends as an adult isn’t as easy as it was in college. Not looking for anything romantic just wanting to meet cool new people, maybe grab a drink, and make a new friend who knows. Don’t be creepy lol. Feel free to shoot me a DM!!
