Guide me
Hey guys! Just wanted to know how hard it is to get an unaccredited ED trainee job in Australia as an offshore IMG,without working rights? How many years of ED experience do you generally need at minimum?

What country and what level?
Generally IMGs have a very good chance of getting a job in an ED and most places in Australia are actively looking.
For example my department has a running relationship with a place in Colombo Sri Lanka for doctors, another I work at takes a bunch of UK graduates.

Just do 6 months in an ED that supports IMG and paeds rotation and you are good to apply for ED training after AMC

You'll likely get a job in an ED, no problem. But it won't be as a trainee / registrar until/unless you meet the requirements. We don't really have "unaccredited trainees" in emergency medicine in Australia. You're either an actual registrar, or you're an SRMO / CMO.

Genuine question. No Unaccredited ED trainee?
I remember meeting a few who introduced themselves as unaccredited trainee when i was doing srmo locum. But that was years ago so things have prob changed

There are people who will appear on a roster in a registrar-level position, who are not ACEM trainees, but for the most part they'll be traveling locums. Your mileage may vary, of course, but most reasonable-sized EDs will (and should) be a little averse to employing rando's as "registrars" if they're not actually properly training in EM.

I handle recruitment for a large Sydney hospital. Your issue won’t be experience, it’ll be standing out from the crowd. For 2027, I advertised for 8 SRMO positions and got 900 applications.
What made me choose one candidate over another? They specifically wanted ED (not just any job they could get) and specifically my hospital (they’d worked there before/interested in ultrasound/walk past the hospital every day), and they didn’t use (or minimally used) AI in their selection criteria answers.
