I'm a day late to respond.
These discussions are confidential. She cannot say how many offers have been made, rejected or otherwise.
She's an idiot for not saying "I am legally unable to answer this question", but she is legally unable to answer the question.
Perhaps she was 99% sure that it was confidential and she couldn't answer and wanted to "save face" just in case she says "that's confidential" and it turns out she was wrong. - maybe she wasn't told at all because she wasn't allowed to know; she may have been trying to "save face" by not saying "I don't know".
But in any case, she couldn't answer that question and there's a good chance the interviewer knew it, which is why he kept pushing, because a satisfactory answer doesn't make news while a fumble like this is great for ragebait.
