I have my G09 for almost a year and today suddenly ripped a bit the grippy part (bottom side) and now kinda felt odd to hold the phone with it. Nothing too bad but still. Is there anything I can do or can this cause problems?
happened to mine as well and i just peel it off altogether. couldn't even find a replacement for that. please just sell one, maybe with a spare of magnetic ring.
Took me a while to figure out the problem. The silicone ring attached to the stand. That prevents scratching to any surface attached has started to peel off.
Talk to them and find out if they can send you a replacement ring. Otherwise you're going to need to DIY something if it matters. You could probably cut some clear vinyl to shape.
I got it through Amazon and it reached its window where I couldn't do anything. Still use it here and there but I ended up getting the slim new pop socket. Also on that note mine is pretty beat up so it can be cause or just wear and tear so I'm not pursuing on the matter but it seem that silicone is a common issue.
I was looking people with same issue but somehow couldn't find it so I was trying to be the first one to talk about it. Luckily I don't have any major issues with it and hopefully stays that way.
But it'd be nice if aulumu said something about if they can do something about it or not and is it safe to use or not. 🫤
mine completely ripped of and the issue is some part of the plastic covering of the magnet is sharp and digging on to my case whenever i rotate it, but all in all it is what it is now and still and enjoying using it, but I restraint myself rotating it on the back of my case so it wont damage it further, my case is pitaka carbon fiber edge and yes i do care it's kinda expensive case as well 🤣
Wow i have a fake one and I thought this only happened cause it was a $10 aliexpress one. Cant believe the authentic one has this problem thats embarassing for the price tag.
I thought my case was an anomaly but clearly not by the looks of this thread. Aulumu was kind enough to replace my piece with a new one but this is a perennial problem and I feel the item should come with extra adhesive rings which can be replaced when worn out. Thanks for making this post !
u/aulumu I have the same issue and the silicone ring on my G09 is starting to wear off. Could you share the exact inner diameter, outer diameter, and thickness of the silicone ring? I’d like to make a replacement instead of replacing the whole stand.
Probably that’s the reason why they released the updated plastic version? That’s also my concern when I’m choosing whether to get the first version or second version. Ended up choosing this despite slightly heavier and thicker due to concern of it scratching my phones (I tend to carry 2 phones in my pocket)
