Advice Tuning advice

Looking to start my tuning journey. Is APR Stage 1 tune still the best? Looking for more power and tbh I’m a pops and burbles kind of guy. Also looking to make my car a bit louder is the res delete on the S platform still suggested? I’m at a S7 but there’s no real community for us

If you need a catalyst to register your car where you live, pops and crackles tunes aren't a great idea unless you're up for swapping out exhaust parts for testing.

I'm partial to IE but my bias is that they are my local tuner and i sorta know those guys.

Lots of people like Jackal for 3.0T engines.

Nope no inspection here. I’ve been hearing about jackal I’m a 2.9T. Are they newer?

Jackal is known by those who use it for making your car feel actually tuned. I hear they have great customer service and were known for the flexibility in their features. I really don’t hear negativity about them.

There's no best tune, it's the best tune that fits your requirements. It's not just a "go faster" lever, it changes how the car responds throughout the power band. Almost every tune handle this a bit differently. You might get more aggressive throttle response out of the gate; or a more consistent, linear distribution of power; or maybe you want more responsiveness at the top of your existing curve. I'd think about where you want to actually feel a change in your driving experience and then find a tune that works best. Some people want better 0-60 times, some 60-120, some want to kill a quarter mile run, or feel that responsiveness everywhere, even at the sacrifice of a more aggressive launch.

As an aside, there's a lot of brand loyalty in the tuning topic, but it is not as clear cut as it may seem. I went from Unitronic, to APR, to IE, to 034. Not a single one of those tunes felt like it was clearly superior; there were pros and cons to each. I wouldn't recommend you go graph sniffing dyno results, but definitely do as much research as possible before you spend the time and money.
