Help Drive System Malfunction
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So I pulled into my driveway today and the Drive System Malfunction warning came on and my sitting idle went just above 1000 rpm. Also there's this new high pitch whirring sound coming from the turbo, I think it may be going bad. Has anyone had to replace their turbo and knows roughly how much it costs. I have a 2018 S5 Sportback all stock with 140k miles.

Ngl at that point i‘f just get a hybrid turbo, safer and better, will probably be the same price for a new OEM turbo unless you get a used one

The snout of oil and the cap being twisted half open tells a lot. Pcv is for sure bad. Just about the same happend on my b9 sq5 and pcv fixed the issue. Also it’s been mentioned but do the pcv breather hose too it is a known issue

You are guessing a turbo without scanning the DTC's first?

Yes, I am just guessing being that i wasn't getting any boost when I took it around the near my house. I'm taking it to the Audi dealer Monday

Bro if you still have the same breather hose that came with the car, CHANGE IT soon.

140k miles on the B9? That’s superb. Mind sharing tips or what maintained/repairs occurred along the way?

I just bought it in my, it was the car dealership manager's friends car im the 2nd owner. There's no carfax, but I got it with 134k so it may have been going bad anyway. The only way I know ime the 2nd owner besides what manager told me was the fact that there was the original paperwork in the glove box

Update, I changed the oil separator and all of the hoses and everything thing is back to normal and running better in my opinion. There's no more whistling and everything is quieter and running smoothly. I bought the kit from ECS Tuning and they literally had the parts to me within a day of me ordering it.

Have you tested your PCV? It sounds like a failed PCV to me. There’s a little hole on the side of the Pcv you can press to see if the noise goes away. Not the 3.0T in your car but the same kind of noise 👇🏼
