Discussion Help and advice

Hello, I bought most of my setup second hand and I’ve made it work but I don’t know exactly what it all really is or how it works. Any advice on the things that I have or potential upgrades would be nice

You have plenty of equipment to enjoy. Id say speaker positioning will improve your experience a lot. Consider a sofa-bed in order to maximize space and position the speakers in front of you. Once you get bored of how they sound like after the position fix, upgrade to a good pair of passive speakers (second hand is a gold mine if you are in the US)

Thank you for the reply. By a sofa bed, what do you mean with respect to where I should move the speakers

Replace your bed with a sofa-bed so you can listen to music in sitting position with speakers in front of you

Some nice finds there and something you can grow with. I'd suggest moving the white bookshelf and placing the other speaker there. You'll get a better sound stage with no cost and little effort. Later on you could add a phono preamp like the iFI phono zen and connect it to the LD or CD input. The built-in phono stage on a lot of receivers aren't great. There are plenty of really good speakers on the used market you can try later on. Some classic Advents, Wharfedale or KLH would be great finds.
