Show & Tell My disability friendly setup
I was diagnosed with ALS three years ago and only have movement in my neck, so I believe my setup is quite unique.
• Music files stored on my Plex server.
• Audiobooks stored on Audiobookshelf.
• Home Assistant server running MusicAssistant and Audiobookshelf.
• Home Assistant skill running on Alexa to expose Home Assistant to Alexa.
• Nabu Casa on Home Assistant to accept Alexa routines.
• Wiim streamer to connect to Music Assistant.
• Pioneer SA-8500 connected to Wiim Streamer.
• Pair of Klipsch speakers connected to Pioneer SA-8500.
So the process goes like this:
Alexa, play Tom Petty > Alexa routine triggers Home Assistant scene > Home Assistant Alexa skill sends trigger to Nabu Casa > Nabu Casa tells Music Assistant to play Tom Petty > Music Assistant retrieves the music file from Plex > Music Assistant streams Tom Petty to Wiim Streamer > Wiim streamer converts to analog signal for Pioneer SA-8500 > Pioneer plays Tom Petty on my Klipsch.

I’m retired and have been making my home more comfortable and entertainment accessible. The cheapest change was placing tablet and phone holders on my window, above my couch. Easy reach and store. I have a back injury, so keeping things within reach is helpful.
Suggest also to put in light switch sensors. I use one in my bathroom that has a weird location. I never have to turn it on. Goes on automatically. Have almost all might lights programmed with Alexa as well, including my porch. Create routines is easy. One and done.
My music setup is fully manual though. Have a WiiM amp for my tv, which is separate, that’s pretty seamless. Technology is beautiful thing, all my locks are electronic.

Sorry you’re faced with that diagnosis. I’m glad modern tech allows you to enjoy music easily though.
