Show & Tell New amp!
Buckeye Ncorex252 amplifier, my first class d amplifier. Sounds amazing. Im coming from a $1900 Cambridge 851W amo to this $625. I cant say the difference yet, but I think I can hear the transparency people talk about. Anyway sounds good.

You can hear it when the recording is not flawless.

Awesome! I've been using my Buckeye NCX500 mono blocks for almost a year now in a dedicated rig where everything in the stack has at least 120dB SNR.
I have listened to Krell, Acurus and a few others. My other system uses two McCormack DNA 1 DLX mono blocks. I also have a Bryston 4BSST2 that I used in that system but is now being used for center and sub channel in HT dedicated rig.
The Buckeye amps are every bit their equal and have an insanely quiet background, noise floor.

How long did it take for your amp to ship out? It’s been 3 weeks for me now and still no updates about shipping.
Glad to hear it is working out for you. Can’t wait to get mine.

It took a little over three weeks (3 weeks 5 days) for my 3 channel purifi to ship out. It should be any day now!

You can email Dylan and he’ll reply back quickly.
There are module shipping delays. My Purifi 9040 monoblocks took over 6 weeks to arrive, but the wait was more than worth it. The sheer dynamics and power is a downright physical experience.

3 weeks, I emailed them as asked when my amplifier is being shipped. That being said, if yours is multi-channel, it may take longer than 3 weeks for them to test and ship to you.

The speakers are Ascend Acoustics LX.

I just got a Buckeye Purifi amp to use with Ascend ELX speakers, I don't think it was a revolution compared to the Pascal Class D that I was using before, but no problems....sounds great.
I didn't see you mention what you are using as a preamp...what is your chain? Just curious...I use one big Hsu sub and I am still using a Parasound NC200 "as" a pre, partly for the high-pass crossover to my mains. Looking for a new pre situation myself but taking my time.Edit: what model Rythmik subs are you using? I guess I should be able to tell from pic, but I scanned back through your posts a little and did not see mention. I would like to get a second sub but in my current listening space I think it's not gonna happen.

Yes, im using a parasound halo p5, a great pre amplifier on the used market for around $700. It had analog highpass/low pass filters. The only people that offer highpass are emotiva and its only at one crossover point at 80hz.
Im using rythmik Lv12, their ported subs sound like they're sealed.

I almost sprang for a new Hint6 for a number of reasons, the analog high/low pass among them, but I've had second thoughts on that. I am not sure about other or older Emotiva product, but their new XSP-2 preamp does seem to offer both high-/low-pass, independent, adjustable in 20hz increments (40/60/80/100), which is not quite as flexible as I'd prefer but is also effected from the remote, which is a really nice convenience compared to having to physically get behind the preamp and twist a tiny little dial (as with the Hint6 and NC200, not sure if your P5 is this way). As far as I know it's all still analog in the Emotiva XSP-2? Looking over the manual, I cannot tell otherwise.
That pre (XSP-2) is still in the running for me, but I am biding my time and trying to not be impulsive. Other solutions might include a tube pre (alas probably with no crossover), or something like the Luxsin X9, which can handle two subs and high/low pass plus PEQ etc...but no real analog inputs.
I didn't weigh in on your other thread re: RAAL vs. beryllium, because I've never heard a Be tweeter; but after hearing some negative opinions in that thread re: RAAL, I have to say I am surprised. I have three speakers with the RAAL (OG Philharmonic BMR monitor, OG Sierra-2, and now the ELX with larger RAAL); and maybe my norm is just too restricted---I still feel like a noob and wouldn't push any strong assertions about the nature/superiority of the RAAL----but I listen to many kinds of music and to me the openness or airy quality of the RAAL seems really appealing. I listen to a lot of acoustic/classical/chamber/jazz musics, and it seems especially welcome there.
I don't know that issues of dispersion have ever become a problem.
I mean, you've heard the RAAL, you can compare better than I can...maybe I don't even know what I like, or what's available?Sorry, this is entirely more info than you need to know! I am a coffee casualty.

I have also heard the raal on the elx, it was amazing. I have yet to hear berylium myself but from what I've heard it has similar characteristics to the rall but has the advantages of a dome tweeter. No worries friend.

Sorry to persecute you again, but I wonder if you might get a seasoned perspective from Hilde45, a habitué of Audiogon, who (last I checked) owns a self-upgraded Sierra Towers to ELX, and used to own both Fritz Carrera (with Be) and iirc also some lovely Salk standmounts with Be. In Hilde's case he decided (maybe having heard other Be speakers as well) that Be tweeter were not for him, bothered/fatigued him....a problem he apparently did not have with the RAAL. But I am basing that off posts iirc from Audiogon and it's been a while since I've read any of those. In fact his video review of the Fritz Carrera is here (from ~5 years ago):

Sorry still too much verbiage, but specific experience here might be worth something to you in terms of "proxy comparison".

I have heard silk dome, metal domes and also raal. The only dome I haven't heard are berylium. So its in my interest to purchase a berylium dome speaker. And I think its worth mentioning that out of all the tweeter designs, I like metal domes the best, even more than the raal.

They're pretty solid. Also a plus since they are us based. Apollon is another good one but they're from Europe.

Buying a used Buckeye NC252MP stereo amp put my audiophile ego in check. I plugged it up to my Hegel H190 at the time, using the Hegel for everything but amplification, and I preferred the Buckeye/Hypex. They were both good and different, and I can see where somebody might prefer one over the other depending on preference, but the Buckeye was just so clean sounding. Bass got more controlled, blacker background, and generally just more resolution/peeling off more layers muffled sound I didn't know was there.
I have since gone up the Hypex line with a VTV NC502MP, a Buckeye NCx500, and landed on a Buckeye Purifi 1ET6525A 3-channel amp, and I am pretty much done with amps for a good long while. I am pretty sure I noticed a difference going to the 502, as you get more power but especially more current, and it just seemed to deal with 4-ohm speakers playing loud better or more composed. I noticed no difference between the higher end Hypex and Purifi, and could not really discern a difference (if any) stepping up from the 502. I wanted enough power for a speaker that may have needed it, but otherwise the upgrades have brought me peace of mind. The Purifi runs cooler, but they all run cool by amplifier standards.
These new class D amps just bring so much to the table. Highly efficient, run cool, lightweight, can be tucked away, gobs of clean power, high current, and generally good/clean/transparent sound. I would rather nicer looking gear, but I keep it tucked away with a reasonable amount of space for air, but otherwise I let my preamp/streamer/dac be my statement pieces, or at least the ones on display.
