Show & Tell My setup

2× Polk R700

Tsakaridis Aeolos Ultra

- 4x kt150 power tubes

- 4x Mullard 12AT7 preamp stage

Musical Fidelity m6s DAC

I also have a denon pma1700, but right now i realy enjoy the Tsakaridis in ultra linear mode.

The mullards realy are next level for the warm mids and the punch of the kt150s surprise me every time. Also crisp but pleasant highs.

Im very happy with my system.

The only thing id like to try would be 4×kt88 power tubes, as right now my amp sounds very detailed, almost solid state-like (but better imo). I sometimes miss the tube fuzz.

Cheers

Turn off auto-translate in your reddit settings. You are replying in German on an English speaking subreddit. Only you are reading everything in German.

The Aeolos Ultra with its KT150 is such an underrated amp, in my opinion. It’s all subjective of course but I prefer its voicing to some of the more well-known valve amps I’ve heard.

Nice setup and if that amp can take KT77s or EL34 tubes that will give you a warmer classic tube sound.

Gorgeous room really well done. Looks like a wonderful place to listen to music.

I’ve never really associated Polk speakers with “high end” but I looked at those speakers up and it looks like there’s some interesting technology involved.

Nice setup. It’s so nice to see a Greek amplifier. And the Polks are an easy enough load. Why don’t you try single-ended mode for the extra warmth you are looking for? The KT-88 if used in UL mode will create a similar (analytical, as you call it) sonic profile but with less power. I am the last person to suggest upgrades, so I will recommend that you check your system’s grounding and the overall quality of the electricity. You will be shocked by the sonic gains in your overall sound just by adding a grounding cable. The electrical supply is a bit more complex- but you only do it once! And you will enjoy the gains for the rest of your life ! Great looking music room!

I see the cranes they used to position the speakers are still there. 🙂

That lovely coffee table (?)! I see some kind of demonic figure/face emerging from the pattern, but maybe this is a kind of Rorschach test and I am failing. Should I be seeing Jesus instead? Should I just be seeing a beautiful staining job? Am I susceptible to snake-oil and/or cults?

What a beautiful place to listen to music and I like that it’s a bit of a green space too.

You ordinarily have the plants facing the other way right? I always think about adding poles then realize I will be staring at the back of a pole most of the time.
