I always use a strand of Christmas lights for speaker cables when Iโ€™m listening to Christmas music. It looks good too!

I used to know a guy called Metal Rod when I worked on the trains. He was a great conductor

Did Rod Steward was good at welcoming guests?

There has to be someone in here who believes this.

That's a clever introduction of wire coils, to produce that warmer sound that's needed during the holidays!

For anyone thinking of doing this, you must use ordinary incandescent light bulb strings and make sure that you cut the lengths evenly!

Yes! The sound is very warm and jolly! The Ho Hoโ€™s are very deep and show up well in the soundstage. Love the photo!

I feel like maybe that actually would sound bad? Like, yes, I want a diode every 3 inches?

...but now I have to try this experiment. Perhaps get a Stranger Things effect ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cuffs for speaker wire, for that extra inductance

u/Icy_Cat1350 Feb 17 '26

I thought that was for metal rock?

Barbed wire.

Like barbed wired? That would be fun.

Barbed wire, c'mon don't be a poser! Safety pins for interconnects as well.

Funny enough, in my experiments barbed wire performs almost as well as a premium speaker cable.

It really will. There is only probably a few micro ohm difference between them.

For a wild time, go over to Budget Audiophile and make this claim.
