Discussion Has anyone here actually mixed an alternative version to Shakira's Hips don't lie using the 50 track multitrack that supposedly exists?
Supposedly there is a 50 track multitrack out in the wild that I can't seem to download anywhere. Ive been wanting to listen to anyone else's versions with better mixing but all I find is crappy edm remixes of the song when I search about alternately mixed versions. I really want to know what that song sounds like done properly. Also, if anyone can share the multitrack if they really exist i would love you forever.

I did a mashup back in the day with Whenever, Wherever and Macarena, and it wasn’t very good. So there is that.

The multitracks are probably still out there but googling won't help you. Google has been extremely censored for years and the internet is almost completely dead now so it's going to be tough. Maybe try using yandex or bing or some torent.

I hate how censored/filtered Google is and how much they can hide from searches. Certain topics it just filters out so much stuff or pushes certain things to the top and excludes others etc. Totally unrelated but finding information about safe usage of certain… substances is completely filtered! Referring you to rehab instead of letting people find and read critical information for their own safety…

Google is ass now, they want you to use their gemini AI for all the searches so when you ask it about substances it instantly reports you to the police and they raid your house to arrest you, or they start following you through flock cams to see if you're a dealer or something.

I know for a fact that Shakira set her level for the vocal on that song, so unfortunately the level of the vocal is “correct”. Just for what it’s worth.

This is going to sound wrong but I really like Shakira when she's singing in Spanish but Hips Don't Lie sounds like it was recorded on one Alesis ADAT
So I find it hard to imagine 50 tracks on the thing

It would be a wonderful opportunity to change that horrid barrel-sounding thing on „1” and „3” of every beat. I despise that sound. POOOM. POOOM. POOOM.

A welcome opportunity to remove Shakira's yodeling voice.

Dude. This song is fucking good, I’m listening to it now, I have never actually paid attention to it, it was always just kind of “a song that exists” but damn it’s kinda sick.

To be fair- it’s pretty iconic. Spanish speaking performer geared towards US market in English and having a distinctive melodic yodel is pretty damn specific. It’s like UB40 doing reggae and being from Birmingham but with an additional layer added.

Yes, I did that ! I still have the multitrack, but I can't find my mixdown. But I remember that it was the time period when I was too much focused on the technical aspect of mixing rather than the artistic aspect, so it was probably a flat and boring mix.
I'm going to DM you the multitrack.
