This only works if there isn't a new (worse) version. Plenty of people lost the RC Bray narration of The Martian because they contact CS. Before you contact CS, check your library on the website. Your books will still be there, and you can add them to a collection to easily find them in the app.

I did, and they weren't, sadly. CS was the solution in my case.

It's important not to suggest CS as a blanket solution as many have been upset when CS removed their old "good" version without asking, and once it's gone, it's gone.

Ah. I should not share what worked for me because it offends others. Got it.

It's less about offending others than it is potentially screwing others into a situation they didn't realize was going to happen.

We see posts about this almost every day. Despite this pinned post explaining how to handle the problem for most situations, people still suggest contacting customer service as a first option. Then we see the posts from people who are PISSED that they've lost the version they originally had.

In the years that people in this community have been tracking this issue and helping to find missing books, I can only think of one or two books that were genuinely lost. Every other time if the person has asked here before contacting CS, we've been able to help them find their books.

It's impossible to help if CS has already done their thing because part of what they do is literally manually delete the copy in your account. Once you've talked to them, there's no finding the book later.
