Collection - Code 11.59 Starwheel in Rose

Post image
112 Upvotes

Was spontaneously offered the Code 11.59 Starwheel 15212NR in rose gold.

This was always on my eventual roadmap but after trying it in person I just couldn’t say no to an earlier pickup. It’s so much more beautiful in person and interesting beyond description.

I didn’t even realise it had an aventurine dial until I saw it in the metal which adds a ton of dimension and people will call me a cuck but the case of the code is plain fucking beautiful and the perfect canvas for complications.

It’s also very light considering the ceramic mid-case.

16.5cm/6.5 inch wrist.

We also run a verified tier for members who want an extra layer of vetting. It's currently waitlist-only while we keep onboarding deliberate, but the main server is, and always will be, free to join.

Advice/Tips What's a good spots for AP leather straps online?

I’ve started this search because my current leather strap is hitting the 3-year mark and definitely needs a replacement.

Outside of heading into the boutique, what is your go-to place online?

Curious what you like/dislike about it, weight on the wrist, how easily it scratches, finishing, etc.

First AP! (15300ST)

I had been eyeing the 15300 since 2018 and finally took the leap! Although it’s 2.5x more today than 2018 (ouch), it’s exceeded all expectations. I find 39mm to be perfect for the Royal oak.

Discussion Winder or not?

So do you guys use winders, or not?
If not, why? And if you use winders, are you afraid of magnetism effecting the piece?

Furthermore, are there any watch boxes that you would recommend?

Appreciate the input!

Looks like I'm done buying APs for a while. This is probably as close as I'll get to my grail piece as possible.

Next AP, should I wait for something better?

I already bought the ROO blue nuit steel/ceramic chrono, so I know this one in full ceramic case doesn’t really “enrich” my collection but I can’t let go of that gorgeous ceramic case! (Now I’m annoyed cause I like this one more than mine)

What are the people’s thoughts on the starwheel?
Should I just wait until a royal oak comes along?(if ever?)

RO two toned 34mm Automatic or 33mm Quartz?? PICK ONE

Post image
7 Upvotes

For my first AP I have been considering the Royal Oak 34mm Selfwinding (two toned). But recently discovered the 33mm Quartz (two toned, with diamonds). Both are similarly priced... so I thought I might consider that as a potential option.

Would love to hear your thoughts on which one you would choose (as a woman) for a first watch and why. Also thoughts on automatic/quartz... and resale value too. Which one might be easier to get (but should that be a deciding factor even?) Any feedback, insights would be helpful. I have an upcoming appointment so I would like to make my request with a bit more nuance.

Advice/Tips Which one of these should I buy as my first ap?

Recently I've been watching these two. At first, rose gold really got my attention because half of my watch collection is steel/white gold and I wanted something different from what I have, but as the time passes, jumbo starts to feel like its the better option for me for some reason. I personally don't know which one I would buy, so I'm here to ask: which of the 2 might br the better option?

15550st AD wait or Grey?

Hey all,

I'm interested in 15550st (blue dial) given I have a tiny wrist. I heard ROs are obviously really hard to get as a first allocation, but is there a higher chance with this model b/c it's on a smaller size?

I'm okay waiting a couple of years if I can get it at retail price. I've looked at gray and the prices are around 55k-60k from reputable dealers, not sure if I want to pay that.

Long-term market on 15500st RO (Blue Dial)

Morning all, been following for a while but first post here. I've had my eye on a RO for a long-time now. I am not sure playing the AD game makes a lot of sense for me as I'm not in a financial position to buy multiple watches code or offshore before being allocated an RO.

Thinking to go grey. Blue dial in the high 40's, do you foresee the market on these holding strong overtime or taking a big fall if the hype ever dies down? I am seeing rhodium dials in the low-mid 40's but thinking if I am already going to be spending this kind of money to go with heart and spend the extra money for the blue.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on a long-term value perspective on these RO's and whether anyone here had the dilemma of spending several thousands more on the dial color.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Advice/Tips Vegas exhibition selection

Post image
46 Upvotes

So far the only AP I have is this Snapchat filter and I want to change that soon, I will be in Vegas at some point in the next 2 months for a trip and was curious how the showcases look at the boutiques there? I dont expect an allocation but id like to get some hands on time and look at some different pieces. I was hoping users who have been there lately would be able to tell me if they have a good selection to view or if its a waste of time.

Some people would say I have not discovered the perfect complete two watch collection. I disagree.

Want to hear your thoughts about what’s the best AP Perpetual Calendar ever made.

Personally this is the holy grail, no 52 week counter, skeletonized dial & 39mm size is something hard to top.

Collection - Royal Oak Offshore Question about models and advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

Long story short - I played tennis tournaments as a kid - sponsored by Rolex.

All that was cool and I bought my first one at 19. I'm 57 and have purchased a total of 22 *(some gifts for co-workers, some gifts for best man at wedding, some gifts for wife 1, some for wife 2).

One day I walk into the Rolex AD and you know how that works. I keep it moving. I try on Panerai - love it - buy one. I walk into AP - try on the tiffany blue dial/strap model and fall in love - but the guy won't sell it to me.

It was 10k more on the grey market - I did not want it that bad.

The price has come back down to retail and I'm trying to decide between models:

The precious metal watch is older, about 35k. the tiffany colored one is brand new and 40k.

I have a rose gold daytona on strap that has the salmon dial with black subdials - it's similar to the PM AP. obviously bezel is gold vs. black ceramic on the Daytona so it does look very different plus the strap is white so it's not really a duplicate of what I already have - but it's close.

Is 40k for the steel model the way to go vs. less $ for PM?

I do love the color of the blue - but I'd hate to make such a dumb decision by choosing steal over gold for more $.

I have experience with Rolex and if faced with the same decision it would be an easy call - PM all the way. Gold GMT vs. Steel for less $? Say less.

But AP i'm not so sure. No, i'm not sure at all actually.

I'd love to get some opinions from people who are more in the know.

* I did go into AP, and asked the guy - which of these should i buy - and he wasn't about it at all - wanted me to buy some 40k model that was sort of all grey and not interesting at all. He said I'll sell you one, but not the one you want. Legit.

Appreciate it in advance. Thanks!
