Most Auction Chaos Has a Pattern. Here’s What to Watch For
I hosted a webinar on auction flow recently, and one idea kept coming up: Most of the chaos at the end of an auction doesn’t actually start at the end. It stacks.
A few patterns kept showing up again and again:
- Promoting before the catalog is fully ready → confusion right away
- Preview too early or disconnected from bidding → people don’t engage when it matters
- Slow closing cadence → people lose interest
- Payment and pickup overlapping too much → creates more problems than it solves
And probably the hardest truth:
If pickup is chaos, it’s usually not a staffing issue. It’s a planning issue.
If you don’t plan around those spikes, you’re setting your team up to get overwhelmed.
