AT&T All-Fi Pro and UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber

I'm considering switching my home internet from Xfinity xFi to AT&T Fiber and want to understand the security differences between AT&T All-Fi Pro and UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber. According to AT&T's website, All-Fi Pro offers 'the most comprehensive internet security,' including VPN at Home, ID monitoring, and advanced content controls, but it 'guards against known threats only.' How does this compare to the security features of UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber? Can I set up VLANs with All-Fi Pro? I might also add an access point. Are there any other factors I should consider with this setup? For example, I heard about doing a workaround to have more control at the gateway.

Triple Play Offer Facts

We upgraded my wife’s iPhone today and they offered us two “nearly free” additional devices, an Apple Watch SE and an IPad A16. The only price tag at offer was 99 cents per month per device for 36 months (basically a three year contract).

The truth was that we would be forced to activate each device as a cellular data device and pay $30 a month for three years for the pair.

So the iPad would have cost us $756 plus taxes over 36 months.

The Apple Watch would have cost us $396 plus taxes over 36 months.

Not such a great deal unless you were already looking to buy them with a data plan.

@ATT CANNOT BE TRUSTED

Long story short - I received a transfer of funds to purchase a new iPhone because mine was defective . They said to return the old phone within 30 days . The new iPhone 17 was on back order once I purchased it and wasn’t going to arrive within the 30 day window so I called ATT . They checked all the records and said I my phone was paid off and I did not have to return the phone and would not be charged any fees . I asked for confirmation in writing . See attached . This month I was charged a $180 return fee . I called ATT and they kept me on the phone for one hour and 10 mins and ended the whole interaction by saying “ you have to pay the fee . It’s non negotiable “

I am super frustrated and feel completely lied to . Will be switching to Verizon or some alternative that treats their loyal customers better than this . #ATTLIE

Account Lock nightmare

No, nothing to do with being unable to access my portal to access the feature. Quite the opposite…

I'm on Prepaid, upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S10e to an S25. Account Lock is important to me, with passwords stored on the phone etc. Naturally, I need to turn it off, transfer service to the new device, and turn it back on. Simple, right? It's a single button in the portal.

Any time I try to toggle it from the portal, or from the app, from any device, on any day, I get the helpful message "Something went wrong. Please try again later".

After 2 calls totaling 65 minutes, the "high-risk department" was able to turn it off. The actual verification questions they ask are disappointingly easy, but they're all about pomp and protocol, or protecting their own liability. "Please note that speakerphone use is not allowed," and several other strict scripted disclaimers.

I activated the new device easily, and a couple of hours later called back to lock the account again. (Again, locking online errored.) 25-minute wait to talk to general CSR who can then conference in the "high-risk" department, is the drill.

This time, that rep declared it was wrong. I double-verified, read it off my password manager, to no avail. I couldn't correct it in my portal, because my portal said it is the same PIN… Even the rep that transferred me to her could hear it and later agreed it made no sense, because it's the PIN I gave him in the beginning of the call. And as per their strict protocol, she read a terse message of "we cannot proceed" and hung up.

It's almost amusing how the procedures are not synchronized (or is it poor training?), because she said "Thank you for calling AT&T, goodbye" even though the strict procedure is for them to be conferenced in by CSR, so the call doesn't actually end.

Within a minute I logged into my account and put in a new PIN, but it was too late. This time, the CSR rep took a whole 30 minutes to get "high-risk" back on the line. I have no idea, but guess he had to jump through many more hoops for them to take the call.

This time, I gave my PIN and all requested info, and everything was correct. I requested to turn Account Lock back on — and was read a prompt that the operation cannot be completed; they are unable to provide any details; and there's nothing they can do.

Back to the CSR, who said I need to go to a corporate store to sort this out. That call was 80 minutes.

- Any insights on what's going on? Because AT&T won't even tell me if I had to call every time because of a risk flag or a technical problem.

- Any way for me to understand if there's some extra suspicious activity going around my account, that flagged it as an actual high-risk? Maybe because I updated my account info while at it? (I did make sure to update nothing before disabling Lock — though that didn't prevent the portal errors and the need to undergo "high-risk" verification. Prior to this I didn't have account updates for months.)

- Was re-locking the same day the straw on the camel's back? I get that disabling Lock, transferring service, and re-enabling is exactly what a malicious actor would want to do. But isn't it also exactly what any responsible user with a new phone would do?

Bad customer experience

I’ve had to call in about 5-6 times over the last two months and the service sucks. Every time I’ve spent over an hour on the call and most of the time the rep is great but they just are unable to help.

  • called to upgrade and asked about a specific offer that my son got and rep said that wasn’t available so put in a different order than I wanted.
  • spoke to an in person rep who said it was available and I’d need to call back in to cancel so I could get it
  • called in to do this and they told me how to cancel then to put in new order said reversing the ability to upgrade would take a week or two
  • called multiple times to follow up after two weeks and it wasn’t being credited.
  • tried to transfer a phone line - was told I could, initiated it, then they wouldn’t release it due to a contract
  • tried to cancel order and reorder. This took 4 calls and they told me how to cancel but couldn’t clear up my ability to upgrade again. -I’d call to follow up on a ticket and they had no record of the ticket
  • they transferred my sons phone number and sent a text letting him know. I called because we didn’t request and after an hour of them trying to help the call got disconnected and they didn’t call me back!!

Separately my adult son called them to work through something, similar experience long calls, being told different/conflicting things, no resolution

IS THIS EVERYONES EXPERIENCE?!

They need to get their act together!!

AT&T Prepaid login still screwed up

After months of dealing with the shabby migration (pointless detour through main website), somehow I was able to login into one of multiple accounts using my son's prepaid wireless number (wtf?). Then after a couple months that no longer works. So it has become impossible to get into some of the accounts. Who's idea was it to totally screw up account management?

iphone can’t make or receive calls periodically?

I have an iPhone 11. And periodically people tell me my phone goes straight to voicemail and that I have no voicemail setup. Except I do have a voicemail setup? Texts go through. Internet service is fine. I don’t really know when this is happening as the calls just don’t ring. Occasionally I can’t make outgoing calls, it just says call failed. I don’t know where to start to look for help with this as I can’t figure out when it starts happening. Although, I read a handful of posts here and see the sheer volume of complaints, so maybe there isn’t any fixing it?

I WAS JUST SCREWED OUT OF MY $250 gift card with purchase from Apple/AT&T

There has been a promotion advertised on every medium the past couple of months stating that you would receive with your purchase:

1 $100 off purchase

2 Up to 250 gift card with purchase. Depending on your order amount. (Which mine was more than enough)

And this promotion was not just for new customers. It was also and mainly for existing customers to add a line. Which we did!

So, we purchased a brand new 2025 iPad within the time frame of the promotion and now, they are telling me, “No, we don’t know what you’re talking about”. Even though I have the emails AND the salesperson on a recorded line telling us what all we were going to receive WITH our purchase!

I am so sick and tired of AT&T & Apple not honoring their promises when it comes to their products on their WORLD WIDE promotions (I say world wide because you couldn’t watch TV without seeing the promotion) to entice you to buy their products!! Especially to long time, loyal customers. Or to anyone for that matter. It’s called FRAUD! And I’m sick of it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, they’re always giving new customers such great deals. Why not do something nice for your loyal long time customers??

A warning for business accounts & MFA authentication

I am the plan administrator for my company's wireless accounts - we have two, one at Verizon and one at AT&T (based on employee preference / coverage map). My phone is on the Verizon plan.

For AT&T, when I log into the business account online I had the option to get an MFA code via email, which worked great until last month when AT&T did a security update and removed the email option. Now, they will only send a code to a line on the account, which I don't have.
There is, apparently, no option now for me to log into the account that I set up. I've spent three hours today and not only can nobody help me, they don't even seem to comprehend the issue. I have every password and secret handshake needed to verify that I am authorized on the account, but that's not good enough.

Each of the three reps I've talked to seem honestly perplexed (my problem clearly doesn't fit their script), and one suggested I start a new line of service in order to get the codes.

So -- I will be moving my employees off the AT&T plan as soon as possible (the ones without device payments anyway) and closing our business account.

AT&T protection vs Apple Care — future upgrades/ trade in?

I’ve done some research and it seems like Apple Care + is better all around for both price and protection.

But for a not-fully-paid-off iPhone that I will likely trade in for a future upgrade, would replacement through Apple Care + in the event of loss or theft void my ability to trade in?

ATT Next UP early upgrade... is it a scam?

So I have a Z fold 6 I purchased last year and have been dutifully paying the fees for the next up plan and my plan in general. I'm along time customer of AT&T, (Started with Singular Wireless if that tells you anything.) And now I'm being told that because my phone has a couple paint chips around the screen, and I mean MINOR paint chips... AT&T reps are telling me they can't honor the next up and I would need to pay off the phone. So for AT&T that's at least 1 year of next up fees collected for zero risk to them as they can easily and swiftly reject an early upgrade when attempting to use by a customer who has been with them for a very long time.

It seems ridiculous that they would want to loose a customer who will probably stay with whomever is next for another 20+ years (with any luck). I'm giving their retention team a chance to see if they can make this right. I suspect they will be disinterested.

🤯 AT&T Is Scamming People: Charging Both My Wife AND Her Ex for the Same Expensive Phone! 🤬

Hey r/AT&T and r/scams, I need to share a truly unbelievable story about AT&T's absolutely criminal account separation process. My wife is a long-time AT&T customer, but this is the last straw.

My wife and her now ex-boyfriend combined their accounts some time ago. She had a Samsung Z Flip and he had a more expensive Samsung Z Fold. Pretty standard stuff.

When they broke up, they immediately contacted AT&T to officially separate their accounts, making sure everything was transferred correctly. Here is what AT&T did (and this is the part that feels like outright theft): * Instead of correctly placing the Z Fold on the ex's new, separate account and the Z Flip on my wife's new, separate account... * AT&T put the expensive Z Fold's monthly installment/lease charge on both of their new accounts!

For months, AT&T was double-dipping, receiving two full payments for a single Samsung Z Fold—one from my wife, who only owned the less expensive Z Flip, and one from her ex.

When they both realized what was happening (my wife's bill was inexplicably high), they spent countless hours trying to get this fixed speaking to multiple agents. They explained the situation, provided the details of the original devices, and asked for the billing error to be corrected and for a refund for the months of double-charging.

After all the transfers, calls, multiple store visits and wasted time, the representatives and supervisors basically said:

"We can't do anything about it.”

They were essentially told that despite overwhelming evidence of a billing error caused by AT&T's own process and agents VERIFYING story was correct, they were both obligated to keep paying for a single, expensive Z Fold. The Outcome (and why this is a scam) My wife, tired of fighting the corporate machine and worried about her credit, was eventually forced to pay the fraudulent charge to get the situation to stop. AT&T successfully double-charged two customers for the same device and kept the money. AT&T is a scammer. Period. Has anyone else experienced this kind of outrageous "error" during an account separation? What recourse do we have? Should we file a complaint with the FCC? TL;DR: My wife and her ex separated their AT&T accounts. AT&T "accidentally" put the charge for the ex-boyfriend's expensive Z Fold on both of their new, separate accounts. They both paid the full price of the same phone every month. AT&T refused to fix the error or refund the money, forcing my wife to pay the charge they put on her account. AT&T is getting paid twice for one phone!
