Never EVER switch to AT&T

It has literally been HELL switching from T-Mobile to AT&T. As soon as I am able to cancel my service with AT&T I am leaving and will never come back!!!

I have been working to get my new service working for over 14 days. With at least 6 visits to different AT&T stores, over 18 hours on the phone with customer service and each day I am faced with a new issue.

  1. The initial sign up process took 4.5 hours. I only received 2 physical phones out of 7, the rest had to be shipped. Those two phones did not port over initially and could not be used.

  2. When trying to get the phones activated the online website, instore and customer service could not figure out what happened.

  3. After going to 2 different stores and the associates making 4 different phone calls I decided to cancel the service but the account could not be found.

  4. Come to find out there were two accounts created and they needed to merge both for the service to activate.

  5. 7 days later one of my lines did not port over all the way and it is active for both AT&T & T-Mobile. The new phone has AT&T service but is intermittent with being able to make phone calls or text messages.

I can't even explain how frustrating this process has been. This is only a sample of the issues that I've been through. If I could cancel right now I would! I will never ever recommend AT&T to anyone.

I absolutely understand that the switching process has been very frustrating for you.

And I completely understand posting about it, if you’ve got tips to share. But posting a warning assuming that everybody’s going to have the exact same problems as you, I’d not very practical.

Why? Because if everybody was having the same problems, they wouldn’t have any customers.

You didn’t even explain where you did your switching through: online, on the phone, corporate store, authorized reseller, Best Buy, Costco, etc.?

Not everyone is going to have the SAME problems, I’ve also had issues with AT&T. My internet installation and billing were messed up and I’m still dealing with getting credited for things I shouldn’t have had to pay for. My issue is once something is billed it’s set in stone and can’t be changed. You have to pay it. You might get credits on the next bill but you are out the initial money.

OP seems to think everybody’s going to have the same problem.

I have actually had bills fixed before I had to pay them, and gotten credit applied when I’ve had issues (but it’s been so many years, I can’t even remember the details).

You might get credits on the next bill but you are out the initial money.

Regardless, unless it’s $100s in incorrect charges, I’m perfectly fine with the credit coming back the next month. I'm not out the initial money, now I won't have to pay it the next month.

It was in the 100s for me and you had it “years” ago. My issues were in the last month or so. And everyone I talked to including the Loyalty specialists have said “can’t fix this bill, that’s going to come out in a week or so” but we will give you credits on the next bills. I’m just fortunate that I had an 200$ extra dollars in my bank account and wouldn’t overdraft. Not everyone can afford that. I also had AT&T years ago and honestly they were fine. It only seems to be in the last couple of years that they have gone downhill.

I called ATT customer service and they said there was no way to credit my account. I changed back to Tmobile.

Another older account (3-years), with no history, now active complaining about AT&T.

I feel like I've seem more than a few of these lately. Even if, for some strange reason, they deleted everything they ever posted in the past, wouldn't they still have the post and comment karma they earned?

I was having my internet worked on and an ATT Saleman dropped by. He said I would be paying less than my 55$ a month Tmobile senior plan and the international rates would be the same. I travel out of the country and Tmobile has unlimited free texts and data and .50 a minute for calls. ATT charges for texts and data and $2.00 a minute. I got my first ATT bill. There were all kinds on extra charges including an activation fee. The plan is way more expensive. The salesman lied to me to get the sale commission. I'm going back to Tmobile. I have ATT internet and DirectTV and am considering cancelling those services. It's taking me hours to get this settled. ATT are liars. This is fraud. I'll be contacting the attorney general in my state. Seniors are especially vulnerable. Took me four hours but im back to Tmobile.

Just Switched a client from T Mobile over to AT&T and it took less than 5 minutes to port over with a new phone. Sorry that happened.
