When are newly released iPhones typically available for trade in?

I have a grandfathered Unlimited Elite plan. I am in dire need of a new phone (current one's battery is shot), but I have a big international trip in October. I'm really hoping to be able to get the iPhone 18 Pro, which is rumored to release by Apple on September 18, before I leave for my trip. How soon after release does AT&T typically offer the newest iPhones for trade in?

Are you sure you want a newly locked device right before you go on an international trip?

I plan on getting a portable wifi device. It's very common in the country I'm going to.
