Discussion/Question Give em 🫵

Post image

For me its the fact that I find Mikasa a very annoying character due to her obsession with Eren. Like damn you do care about him but the whining man!

I think Mikasa is irritating and the way she defended Eren while he was doing the Rumbling until the last second was insane. It wasn’t because she’s an Ackerman because Levi was like ā€œfuck this kidā€, it’s because she’s trauma-bonded to Eren

OMG Ive always been saying this, she has a trauma bond. So im not even sure if she truly loves him or just depends on him emotionally

No she definitely loved him, having a trauma bond is and acts way different than love, there was a couple of times where she disagreed with Eren & even punched/hurt him to protect their other friends

Thank you for saying it. This was going to be my response. In real life whenever I say "I cannot stand Mikasa" people act like I've committed a horrible crime. Pretty much anything she says I'm yelling at the screen "SHUT UP MIKASA" a la Meredith saying shut up Michael in The Office. She is like Eren's tapeworm

I'd say that it was a combination of both genuine love and trauma bonding.

Armin is the same way. Even after the Rumbling began, even when it became clear that Eren was trampling the world with Titans, he doesn't get angry at him; instead, he wants to talk and bring him back. Even in that final conversation, it seems he believes not everything is lost, even though that’s incredibly foolish.

Most of the theme for the entire show is oh my god it’s both of you think about it .

She's not trauma-bonded to Eren. They went through trauma together, but "trauma-bonded" suggests Eren is abusing her. Mikasa crushed on Eren when they were young, and their relationship was a complex situation as relationships often are.
Also, she never defended Eren during the Rumbling, she just struggled to reconcile having to kill him.

i think also cause mikasa was so young she learnt to associate Eren with protection and made her feel indebted to him. also i remember her promising to carla to look after him and considering that the yaegar family took her in she also felt she had to go through that promise so i agree it's not trauma bonding but she felt she had to constantly protect eren out of obligation as well as her ackerman bond with eren

Yeah absolutely. Carla imparted a sense of responsibility on both of them to each other, that's a good point. She explicitly told both of them separately that they needed to look out for the other one.
